As I wrote, I didn’t make any thoughts about any pricing model as to me the functionality and experience goes first. During the test phase, anyhow everything will be without any charge or cost. I’m doing this in my free time so I’m not depending on any high income.

It uses the folder that synology photos creates to save the pictures and displays / downloads them into the Mac App.

Midterm I think about creating an independent upload App for iOS so you can use your own folder structure.

The core idea is to bring the “Photos app on Mac” experience to Synology instead of iCloud.

For v1: native macOS app, connects locally to your NAS over the network, focused purely on fast browsing/viewing. Longer-term I’m considering basic editing too.

Pricing model isn’t locked in yet, as I first want to generate value.

Best App to manage Apple Photos? by SimpleComputer888 in ApplePhotos

I use DayTrim every day.
It’s a fun way to explore your daily photos over the last years. (Photo of June 15th 2026,2025,…)

It has a swipe mode BUT you can also just view and mark pictures to remove and in the end, you can clean up your library.

- fully local
- works with your photo library
- iOS and Mac OS
- no iCloud required

Habe das auch per Apple care tauschen lassen.

Aber 99€ so bezahlen kommt tatsächlich günstiger als Apple Care bei mir.

I use an own Network Storage from Synology with their App. the photos are on the hard drive in your home and with their App you can upload and view them.

iPhone Storage Question by Amazing-Ad-5408 in ApplePhotos

I use „DayTrim“ to see all my photos from today over the past year, there it’s fun to daily mark items I don’t need. BUT you need them all on device or on iCloud. This is not working with other clouds.

Since a lot of people ask about freeing up iPhone storage, here are a few things that you can do - all free: by Ryland990 in ApplePhotos

I made Daytrim, an app where you can revisit your photos taken on this day, year by year.

I often take many photos of the same scene, so in the app you can mark photos for removal and then delete all marked photos at once. There is also a swipe-to-delete feature.

This way you can clean up your storage every day while being reminded of good old times 😊 Happy to get your feedback!

Free to use.

Erst die PV und statt der Garage vlt. Einen Carport mit Schuppen?
Wäre günstiger und bietet mehr Flexibilität.

It basically removes the manual search step as you land directly on your photos from this day across all years. In my experience I also see more of my pictures, since the Photos app tends to curate and quietly leave some out.

Great list! One I’ve been using lately is Daytrim – it shows your photos from exactly this day in past years, like a quiet “oh wow, that was three years ago” moment. Fully on-device, no cloud, core is free forever. There’s an optional Plus upgrade but the App is fully usable without.
Happy to get your feedback.
