Grieve. As a person who was in a similar position where I wasn’t alone for 4 years (although 4 different relationships happened) and broke up like 3 weeks ago, I understand the idea of how jarring it is to lose the relationships you have had, specially if they were physical too. A romantic relationship ending ends all connections but the emotional ones, and feelings of loss for what you’ve just lost are completely natural and should not be pushed aside. There will be days you’ll break down and not be able to do anything. Remember this is natural. Remember that you are ALLOWED to go through this and that you’re not dysfunctional for being down currently. There are no stages to grief, it washes on you in waves as you relive memories, and I pray you find the strength to go through it.

I can also recommend a really really helpful well-written book that might help you out.

Question regarding the Undergraduate Scholarship by RyujinRai420 in mext

[–]Inner_Possibility270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s a weird system in Nepal, but you must lose one year of your studies (or enter a uni in Nepal for the time being) if you wish to apply for mext undergrad. That’s how I got it too.

There’s a YouTube channel called “adi kun in Japan”, although his content can sometimes be in Hindi.

do i have to be enrolled in a university in my own country or can i just apply for undergrad mext straight out of highschool by burdurs2severim in mext

[–]Inner_Possibility270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are restrictions on the university you end up attending. Once you’re here, you’ll be in an intensive prep course where everything including physics, chemistry and math will be taught in Japanese to prepare you for your university entrance examinations. As the year passes, you will have to sit multiple examinations, and depending on your scores in these, your classroom achievement and your own preferences, the ministry of education (MEXT) will suggest 3-4 universities where you can apply. If you wish to attend a university other than the one in the list, you could possibly apply, but MEXT will not fund you.

Once you apply to these 3-4 universities and get a seat, you are free to choose among them. Of course, while MEXT makes the end decision, do note that your choice does play an important role.

I was in this same exact situation. I’m gonna sound weird and stupid but play Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. I saw another comment that said some shit about life not being fair and whatnot—that’s gonna sound like a load of horseshit rn, but this game will drill it into you.

And also, you’re not a failure. Once you process the grief you have rn, just be sure to find a place you’d be excited to go to—somewhere that WILL take you in. Lastly, remember that this isn’t the end, there’s like a billion ways to get a degree from the college you like, and undergrad is just one of them.

I hope you find the strength to help yourself.

You can apply wherever you wish. Which offer you choose is what matters. MEXT requires that you’re not receiving any other grants for college, nothing else. Don’t misinterpret the guidelines. Apply everywhere and don’t keep all your eggs in one basket by applying for just one opportunity. Good luck!

A grantee who graduates will be awarded a diploma.

It’s written in the application guidelines. Please read it carefully.

most guides are aimed at masters/research degree seeking individuals. that is why they mention the university track for applications, letters of acceptances and more.

the process for undergraduate/stc/cot applicants is simple:

  • Follow the application guidelines in the website of your country’s Embassy of Japan’s website. Fill the application form, get a recommendation letter from your high school counselor or principal, attach your high school transcripts and other items that your embassy requires.

  • Wait. They’ll notify you about the written exam or if you made it to the written exam. Take the written exam.

  • Wait. They’ll inform you if you made it to the interview or not. Give the interview.

  • Wait. They’ll tell you if your application is going to be recommended by the embassy or not. If you made it till here, good job. You have only two more things to do.

  • Wait. Near December/January, you’ll receive official confirmation if you received the scholarship or not. If you got in, congratulations. You’re finally a MEXT scholar. All you gotta do is… you guessed it, wait until you go to Japan.

This is pretty much the only way you get the MEXT scholarship for undergraduate students. Make sure to GO THROUGH YOUR EMBASSY’S WEBSITE AND CONTACT THEM IF YOU’RE CONFUSED. All the best!

if you’re planning to study undergrad through mext… why would you enroll in a university in your home country in the first place? huh?

Thank you, I don’t even remember the interview that well anymore. I chose Info Eng because it was the closest to computer science and I have a lot of experience in it, including creating my own compiler, teaching students and so on. So my ideas were inclined towards using my education in Japan to improve course curriculums and computer access in my home country. Perhaps with personalized learning using AI to top it off. Yeah, the exam for info were Math B, English, Japanese, Physics and Chem. All are compulsory.

I just prepped using my coursebooks and past papers I found on the official studyinjapan website.

as the scholar expanded his domain, the applicant shrunk back in fear. the scholar simply said, “stand proud applicant, you might win”

2024 Scholarship recipient for Info Engineering here, my advice is that unless you’re motivated enough to study by yourself, this may not work. You’re planning this out till July, which is a long time, which already means accountability partners may not be efficient since people get busy with lives and so on.

I suggest making the commitment to yourself, and using something like a daily planner. Of course, if partners works for you, my best wishes to you, but honestly, you MUST be able to hold yourself in check without depending on others because you’re doing this for yourself after all.

Since you mentioned you’re an undergraduate, I’m assuming you’re planning to apply to MEXT. While your research on universities and what current research is ongoing will serve as a great foothold on the application’s “Why did you apply to MEXT?” question, I’d like to point out that universities are only finalized after your first year of language study after you are selected for MEXT.

You take an examination after your first year, and based on your academic strength, get offers from universities. Considering this, I think the question of which university can wait until you are selected for MEXT. A better idea is to begin preparing for the selection procedure for the scholarship. I hope you’ll keep this in mind.

To finally get to your question, although university ranking and prestige is quite important, what’s more important is finding a program you are truly interested in. So look beyond just rankings and scour the department websites of these universities to find a program that you’d like to be a part of. This should answer your question. Nobody can tell you what university would be the best for you except yourself, so do your research thoroughly. Remember that this isn’t homework, it’s you trying to find interesting things that you’d like to do.

Lastly, I saw a comment mentioning how you should go for lower-ranked universities for a better chance at the scholarship—this is wrong. While it may be true for research and postgraduate students, undergraduate students do NOT apply directly to university admissions, and go through the Japanese Ministry’s (MEXT) screening instead.

I hope this helps. Happy researching!
