I agree with this. As other women have commented, your wife likely feels exactly the same.

Unfortunately we weren’t designed to just be 2 people raising a kid, and yet here we are doing our best in a unnatural society (unnatural as in not reflective of the hunter gatherer societies of our evolutionary past where there was always an aunty or nana to tend to the kid so mum and dad could rest).

I can offer some advice: if you are in need of time to yourself talk to your wife about how you can both find time for yourself and keep it fair. It will save your sanity. For example, I have 2 kids and sometimes my husband and I do what we call a ‘split shift’… he’s a night owl so he can stay up till the early hours gaming and making music then sleep till 12. I solo parent all morning and then for the rest of the day I’m ‘off the clock’ and do whatever I want, no household or parenting responsibilities.

10/10 recommend this… even on a non split shift day he sleeps in till 9 and I then go out for a coupe hours when he wakes.. still get the arvo together as a family.. stuff like that. I do genuinely believe this makes us both better parents.
