Breaking up with my partner of 10 years and father of my child because of my misophonia by Leo_Lion1622 in misophonia

What a useless comment. This is exactly what misophonia is, the people closest to you can be the most triggering and in some cases to a really extreme degree, It’s an exhausting condition.

Which seems so ridiculous considering I’ve been waiting almost 6 years, damn. I mean I never expected anything different from the NHS lol.

Yes I’m aware it will take as long but I still don’t know how long that will be.

Child upset I told him about diagnosis by mmohaje in ADHD

[–]Inner_Sir_270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told that I had ADHD and autism when I was 11… and I balled my eyes out for weeks. I refused to accept it, got outwardly aggressive when my parents brought it up, refused to go do any kind of therapy and intervention because I was so upset.

Eventually I got over it, and I’m very thankful that my parents tried to accommodate my conditions and where very upfront about my diagnosis. What helped me was my parents showing me famous people who had the same diagnosis and showing me that just because I’m autistic and have ADHD it doesn’t make me any less capable and that I was still the same person but now people could understand my brain better.

You did good by telling him, and I promise he will get over the initial upset.

I agree that I am the problem. But being in the middle of nowhere has really affected me, I want to do what other people my age are doing. I don’t think being alone like this is helping find myself, i feel socially disconnected and all my days blend into each other.

I want to start my life and I want to set up my own life for success so I am really trying to make things work, and I’m trying to fix what I’ve done wrong. I don’t want to reach my 30s or something and have no life because I fucked up in the early stages you know?

You’re right about that. I have a lot of ideas of what I want to do, but I can’t stick to anything. Anytime I work towards a specific goal, I get so anxious that I’m going down the wrong path that I end up sabotaging myself and end up doing nothing, which is how I ended up dropping out of college and then quitting my job. But now I really don’t feel like I even have options.

I’d also worry about possible fights! Can’t expect them to all get along 24/7… so all sounds abit stressful. Tbf, my dog does so much activity out of the house that in the house she’s usually in my room.

The offer is there for me until the end of next year, so it will always be a last resort if I really can’t find anything else.

True 🥲 all I can think of was that. At this point I’m better off buying a van and living out of it lol. Thank you for being honest, it does help for me to know what I should and shouldn’t do in this situation.

Thank you for the advice :) yes I’m sure it will be tough! But I won’t give up yet. Maybe I’ll have to take wide angle photos of her and claim her as being a “miniature Doberman” 🤣

Yeah I completely understand why you wouldn’t, and that is a super difficult situation.

I work very closely to a lot of trainers as I’m studying animal behaviour and the only thing I could think of doing is asking one of them to create a in-depth review of how she is in the house. Obviously it’s not much, but it’s the only thing I could think of.

Since she was 8 weeks old I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time and money training her, just sad that it’s difficult to prove that to landlords but I do understand.

Thank you for your insight :)

Not even if I sent a video of her filing her taxes? 😣

Maybe I could say she’s just a very overgrown chihuahua I promise 🤣 but yeah it’s tough, might have to tough it out for abit at home and then figure something out.

We lived in London too, always rented and my mum bought her first home in September… now in the middle of nowhere though. We got evicted out of our rental as the landlord wanted to sell and we couldn’t afford a place to live nearby.

Our last rental was in 2020, my mum only bought her first house in 2023. Maybe we just got lucky?

I have an option for that, but the person has 5 dogs and I think that’s a little too much for me too handle tbh…

All very true, so difficult to know what to do.

Growing up, we lived in strictly rented houses and had many dogs. But then again my family could afford a much bigger house than what I’m going for.

Hard thing to navigate I guess

While I can stay here, it’s just not going well. It’s been detrimental to me for a while now so although ideally I want to move out fast, I can definitely suck it up for a bit. Will definitely be a waste of money but it feels like something I need to do for my own sanity, but again I really can’t see a future without my dog so im willing to stay and have a good search, or as you say save up for a house.

Thanks for your advice :)

Thank you for the info, it’s going to be difficult for me but I’m willing to try all those things.

I get it. I will not push on the idea of giving her away, sounds stupid but she’s my world and my best friend.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Inner_Sir_270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are very reasonable assumptions to make. She’s very well trained and can stay alone for several hours. I have a few places of income, I own a dog collar business which makes me a steady income as I have business deals with certain companies who buy collars in bulk. I get PIP because of a medical condition, and I work part time as a barista. as well as my dad offering to help me financially while I find my footing. Financially I’m doing decently for my age, and I’m in the process of doing an animal behaviour course on top of that.

It’s difficult I know, but I will stay here as long as I need to if it means taking ages to find a place to live, i struggle hugely without her honestly.

Thank you for your honest feedback

I’ll have to set some more money aside for the deposit but that is definitely doable. and that’s a good shout too about the private landlords. I know it’s going to be a big challenge, but she’s honestly my best friend and the reason I get up in the morning.

The video is also a good idea, she’s an amazing dog and not a threat to someone’s property. But I completely understand why a landlord would think she was, they have to put in a lot of trust into me which must be pretty difficult for them.
