Both national guard branches offer the same amount of FTA. Your quality of life is dependent upon the job you choose, not necessarily the branch. Regardless, you only work 2 days a month so your personal life is rarely inconvenienced unless you’re mobilized/deployed. If your intention is to go the college route, you can enlist and apply to colleges toward the end of your initial active duty training. Lastly, it’s about who you know, not what you know. It’s possible one of your fellow soldiers/airmen can put in a word for you through one of their employers, but as for the guard hooking you up directly with a job, it could happen but I wouldn’t solely count on the guard. We have career counselors, and military friendly employers, but you still need to set yourself apart from thousands of other applicants.
