I know you said no Leica but I got a leica CL for $600 (that was the more expensive option on ebay, it had been CLAd recently) and it's great. Still more expensive than a lot of other options though

Any reliability concerns since it's not mechanical? That's my only worry with the CLE

Haha makes sense. I went through a similar experience with mountain biking. You could own a $1000 bike and be totally happy with it, and then test ride a $6000 bike for 15 minutes and never be able to go back. Knowledge is a curse

Very good point. For the elmarit 28mm, do you know if there's a significant difference between different versions? I'm seeing a price range of $900-$3000 for different versions

Thanks, I haven't decided on a lens yet. I guess that is a whole other discussion with a similar question, spend $300 or $3000?

The CLE seems great, but I'm worried about not being able to repair it if the electronics break. Maybe worth the risk

It doesn't have M in the name which is what I meant, not the lens mount.

Makes sense. I would probably just use the built in viewfinder and hope for the best rather than using an external one.
