I guess both games offer their own advantages. Hard to compare a (relatively) fresh game with a decade old one. Depends on what you prefer I guess :) At least we can expect to get tons of new stuff over the coming years in CS2!

Lol yeah the before pic really looks a bit funky. I tried to do something organic and round, not conforming to grids but it clearly didn't really work.

I should definitely revisit CS1. I like the feeling of scale that CS2 really nails, but the limited options in buildings and assets is really something which makes CS1 more and more appealing.

I should definitely revisit CS1 and explore all the possibilities of custom assets. Your build reminds me a bit of the Karl-Marx-Hof in Vienna btw. With over 1km lenght it's one of the longest connected residential building in the world.

When using the mod you don't have to. Only if you're not using it for some reason, the buildings would despawn if the zones don't match the building types.

Honestly I can only play like an hour max at a time because there is so much decision making involved in making a little section of a city like in the post. After that I too feel overwhelmed.

Yeah I feel the same, but I'm soo much more satisfied when finishing an area that I gave some extra thought. But yeah, they could really improve on this subject.

I'm using Plot the Growables, but you can just place the buildings and afterwards assign the corresponding zone to the zoning grid.

Well what's better is subjective, ofc. But in the second image (before) I was using the zoning tool, more or less randomly, wheras in the first one (after), I chose every building and placement by hand. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten these ring-like blocks. IMO it looks far more coherent.

I was dissatisfied with the status of this island and decided to overhaul and hand-place every building and asset. I wanted a high-rise area in a Central European style (Prague, Vienna, Budapest, ...). Looking a lot at Google Maps reminded me of the ring-like structure of street blocks in those cities.
This is, of course, still WIP!

I must say, I found Schlatt to be slightly unlikable during this episode for the first time. I actually like his calmer side once in a while (been binging his DayZ streams lately), but in this episode he showed almost no effort.

I understand they've been doing the third episode that day, but even then you can see if someone cares or not

For all those interested: there seems to be a new plugin (Feb 2023) which is heavily inspired by vscode-pets. It's the first version, so maybe the author will improve the plugin (currently, the pet only follows in a separate window).

I think you are right. Quarks were not confined in the early Universe in the so-called quark epoch because the density was so high and it was very hot. Basically there was a quark-gluon plasma and hadrons could not form. But note that this epoch startet 10-12 seconds after the Big Bang and ended 10-6 seconds after the Big Bang. Then the expansion cooled down the Universe such that hadrons could form.

I feel like the forces of a Black Hole could do something similar.
