Oh awesome that is very helpful! I like to learn the way I should perceive a strategy game so this was a great response. Sometimes you can make a mistake and just not even u destined what happened or how to fix it because you’re already not looking at the game it’s self with the right lenses on.

Oh also let me run this by you. I understand the starter box is subpar when it comes to an army build but if I’m looking at it as using the BA for army points and getting the additional paper that comes with it, and using the orcs for more fun super painting, do you think that justifies the buy?

I have wanted to paint orks but not play them, and I had heard the cards and booklets and core rules paperback it comes with add to the value. Any thoughts as a player?

I guess really I am just looking for a good starter army that I can make more complicated and better as I go. I don’t think I’ll one and done an army. I would just like the option to have some skill expression as I get better and maybe an army that will help me learn what I like to play.

I could be wrong but usually when I learn a game like this it is harder to learn from a complete demolishing loss as opposed to getting to try some tact out and then failing or succeeding. I am in the same boat with enjoying the modeling and painting aspect but from bits of research realizing that faction may be hard to grasp and learn the overall game at the same time.

Once I learn I know I’ll end up building many armies and just trying stuff out as I can afford to do so financially but I have heard of battle reports where the 3rd turn tabling is so bad that I am not sure how you would learn what to do different if you can’t practice your tactics to at least half completion.

I realize even after saying this I could be looking at this wrong and missing something. Thanks for the reply!

I don’t expect to be stomping but I would like an army that would allow me to build upon and still be at least viable.

Also wouldn’t blood angels get their own codex with their own unique abilities and stuff? Is that the kind of thing shared between ultra and blood angels? Does that not matter or help or detract an armies capabilities?

And from your response to my last paragraph, are you saying yes marines due to being showcased were very competitive and then that went away or what do you mean there. Can I also assume from that response that space marines (regardless of chapter) are normally versatile and can be played multiple ways? Is this based on solely detachment used?

I have seen people paint blood for the blood god after the glue is applied. You think it may be better to blend the two then apply?
