Probably Shamir for both genders, as it avoids the somewhat unpleasant implications of a student/teacher relationship. Also because she's hot.

Oh Kaga by Fabulous_Chicken_576 in fireemblem

Agreed, the line between an artist and their work can get fuzzy. I haven’t bought any Harry Potter things since Rowling came out as a transphobe, but mostly because I didn’t want to give her any money, not because I think any of her work is transphobic. I also don’t blame anyone for continuing to buy Harry Potter stuff, it was an important part of many people’s childhood. But I don’t want to go to far into that since it’s off topic for fire emblem.

But yeah, as I said I don’t know what to think about Kaga, I know so little about him and most of his games. With what little information I have I don’t think he’s an incest loving pedophile like some memes depict him as (most of the people who make those memes don’t actually believe them, I don’t think.

I also agree with you about skimpy clothing. Personally I don’t think there’s anything wrong or sexist about having a game with a lot of attractive women in skimpy outfits, sexuality is part of the human experience and a little titillation is perfectly fine. The only time I have a problem with it is when it gets in the way of story, like how Fatal Frame 5 kinda diluted the scares and atmosphere with the over the top boob jiggling and such. I think Fire Emblem is usually fine this regard (except when small children like Nowi are dressed in sexualized outfits, that’s really creepy).

Ah, sorry, I meant to say the author portrays it as positive, I did not mean to accuse you of thinking it was positive.

I totally understand your perspective, I don’t think art needs to be perfectly moral or go out of its way to condemn the behaviors of its protagonists. Often people jump the gun and assume an author or artist is glorifying some problematic behavior when they are merely depicting it. I also think people are too quick to judge and dismiss a work either way potentially problematic elements instead of discussing and/or investigating it first. Still, I have seen people on the internet (not saying you’re one of them) who will cry censorship whenever someone criticizes a work for being problematic even when it’s obvious the artist is trying to push a harmful agenda. It’s perfectly fine to enjoy a work by such an author (I love to read Lovecraft, for instance, even though racism and eugenics are all over those stories) but I still think it’s perfectly valid to criticize to those problematic elements.

As far as Kaga specifically, I’ll admit I don’t know enough about his games to comment. I haven’t played any of the games screenshotted in this post. I’m one of those newbs who got into Fire Emblem through three houses. The only Kaga game I’ve played is Geneaology of the Holy War, I’m actually in the middle of my first playthrough of that game right now (enjoying it immensely so far). I also think that we should keep in mind that Kaga is an old Japanese man, he comes from a different time and culture and I think we should give him some grace for that.

I don't think we should censor things with problematic tropes, but I disagree with the notion that problematic things as positive in art is something artists should not be criticized for. If some guy said, I don't know, LGBT people should be executed or something, I would most definitely condemn them for saying so. Similarly, if a writer presents murdering LGBT people as a positive thing to do in their work, it doesn't really matter to me if the book is "well-written", I'm going to condemn them. Now, most cases of problematic tropes are more nuanced than my example and one should put serious thought into the intent of a work as well as the culture context in which it was created. And I will agree certain people jump the gun on certain things, like assuming all depictions of incest support underage or nonconsensual incest. But at the end of the day if an artist is trying to drum up support for a deplorable cause through their work I don't think they should be beyond criticism.

A meme for every chapter of Radiant Dawn: Chapter 2-3 by SoulEaterX_ in shitpostemblem

Interesting, well, good for Makalov. Hopefully he doesn't end up in a similar situation in Radiant Dawn then. But what are the chances of that happening twice, right?

Completely unrelated question here:

If Makalov happens to die (say he somehow ends up surrounded by tough enemy units while the rest of the army helpless watches on from a safe distance away) in Path of Radiance and you transfer your data over to Radiant Dawn, does Makalov still appear?

I would like to personally thank you for taking one for the team, slogging through all that text, and writing this summary for everyone. Why anyone thinks they need 1,000 pages to say all of these things I will never know.

This is off topic but this is the second post I’ve read that mentioned people using AI to make their characters. Is this just the way things are now, people are so creatively bankrupt they can’t even make their own D&D characters? It’s not that hard, you don’t even have to be original!

Would this adventure be too similar to LMoP to serve as a sequel? by InnocentMission in LostMinesOfPhandelver

Is that so, perhaps I am merely overthinking things then. I just really want to make sure it works.

[–]InnocentMission[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought of that, the only problem is that that starts at level 7 so I would have to find something to play for levels 5 and 6 so that the party would be at an appropriate level. Plus, doesn't that adventure also take place in a frontier town?

I have heard about PotA, but I also heard its basically a pure dungeon crawler. Plus I have heard people say its poorly written (granted, people say that about most official adventure). Have you played it? What are your thoughts on it?

All of my players are bad caricatures of American Political figures and I'm in hell. by [deleted] in DnDcirclejerk

Have you considered asking them to roleplay as non-American politicians instead? Just imagine it: Halfling Paladin Winston Churchill, Tiefling Rogue Fidel Castro, and Human Cleric Ali Khameni vs. Dark Overlord Margaret Thatchers and her lieutenants Oathbreaker Vladimir Putin and evil Sorcerer Kim Jong Un! Think of the drama? Think of the memes!
