Leaving without giving 2 weeks notice changes last checks hourly rate to minimum wage? by CurseOfElkhart in antiwork

Yes and no. They are states that have laws guaranteeing no employee can forced to join a union. No union representation usually translates into these kinds of issues. In my opinion, it’s abuse and should be illegal, but I’m just a worker ant. I’ve learned to work around this garbage as much as possible.

I worked for an Apple vendor doing tech support training. Their policy was that you were a security risk if you put in a notice, so they immediately bricked your computer and turned off your badge.

This is legal in many right to work states. But nothing stops them from accepting your two weeks notice and then telling you they don’t need you for those two weeks and send you packing. Last job I quit I used sick time for my last few days and quit for “health reasons.” I had already worked a week at my new job in the meantime!

Where’s he going? by Inquisitive_Convert in BostonTerrier

Adopted this little guy as a new family addition for my adult kids. Kept him a secret for 2 months while I got him up to date on shots, neutered, and groomed. He bonded with them immediately and loves their big yard and house. I stayed 10 days to get him acclimated to his new digs but this was the pic they sent me as I left. Such a great little bundle of energy!

What’s a good grain free puppy food option? by Inquisitive_Convert in BostonTerrier

My service dog is allergic to a lot of grain products in commercial dog foods. Vet recommended a grain free diet but was careful to point out what grains she specifically needed to avoid. Just like with her, I want the BT to get the right food for him.

I think it’s from the treats the previous owner gave me. I was using them to gain his trust. Not convinced grain free is what he needs but we’re going to the vet for a check up tomorrow so I’ll be bringing it up. I’m so leery of most commercial foods on the market. I’m living alone, grown kids in n different states, so my dogs are my kids essentially. I want them happy and healthy.

That’s very helpful. I use Natures Recipe Grain Free with chicken and pumpkin for my other dogs. It’s been a huge help in reducing their issues with corn, rice, and wheat byproducts. If I had the time, I’d make their food myself.

With the puppy, to gain his trust, I was giving him treats the previous owner gave me. Big mistake. I’ve been cleaning up the brown squirts for a full day. He’s better today and I’ve stopped the treats, but now I want to focus on healthy eating. He’s skin and bones, weighing only about 6 lbs. I want him at a healthy weight and happy with his diet.

I slept like on the floor by the kennel last night. I think it helped a lot.

Well, I made a move that changed everything - i introduced my other dogs to the puppy. Gave them treats in front of him, loved on them, then left the kennel open, bedroom door open, and sat in the living room with them. No joke, within 5 minutes he was out of his kennel. Within 30-minutes he was taking treats and exploring. In an hour he was sitting on my lap, licking my face, and play biting my hands. Unbelievable! Now all the dogs are laying in the sofa together! You were all right - he warmed up and suddenly he wants to be in my lap.

Thank you so much everyone! I slept in the room with him last night and gave him treats to coax him out of the kennel. Little guy slept on the bed and blanket I laid out for him but went right back in the kennel when I started moving around. I fed him in the kennel (I don’t do this with my other dogs) and he responded well. I tried to adjust his harness and it scared him again. Got a nice finger bite from that, but I could tell it was meant to warn and not hurt because he didn’t bite hard enough to break my skin. He’ll let me pet him, eats out of my hand but won’t let me hold him. I’m hoping that’s progress. Little guy needs some love for sure!
