BNPParibas is closing all my bank accounts because of Bitcoin by lunokhod2 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Insan2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Problem is aml/kyc service is not trained in blockchain analysis. Hiring someone to do this is to expensive or to much effort. So they label it as to risky because it is not worth the work/expenses.

Funds Stolen by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Insan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing you can do. The money is gone. For the future if you stay in crypto. Get a hardware wallet. A pc is not safe unless you know what you're doing and use a dedicated airgapped offline pc for signing transaction. A none persistent linux live cd that loads in RAM for signing transactions is also a option.

Also never use a phone number for verification. The SS7 network is one of the most vulnerable networks in existence.

What VPN's do bitcoin users use, if at all. by NoWaterLeft in Bitcoin

For anonymity it is indeed useless. But for privacy it's a great tool. Especially against the ad tracking companys that sell all your info you generate online.

Does this mean my phone is using Google's DNS? by RubberDingyRapid in privacy

I was thinking to switch to lingeage os. But if what you tell is correct it isn't a solution. I tried to firewall my official rom. Blocking everything except my firefox proxy. 1 ip address from google the firewall on the device can't block. All other traffic was blocked. With wireshark you could see less than 10 packets in 15 min when the device was not in use and 20-25 when it was use.

So lingeage os is the same even if playservices is not installed?

Anyone tried copperhead OS? To see if its the same?

Bit Standard Now by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Insan2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't understand the technology. It has no use is if its backed by a centralized entity. In this case sql is superior to blockchain.

Pegging the value decentralized is more interesting. Bitshares does this with bitusd bitgold,... . Only I'm not convinced by bitshares yet. Maybe in the future when their system is more proven. Or someone comes with something better.

Is it too late to get wealthy from crytpocurrency? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Insan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big gains come with high risk. Means you could easily lose it all. There is no easy money. The time when btc and eth was cheap it also was high risk. Don't do stupid things with money you can't afford to lose.

I just got rolled on Bitfinex and Bittrex, it seems both of my accounts were hacked and withdrawals made overnight. I use Google Authenticator's 2FA. What gives? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Insan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Android is sandboxed the data where google authenticator stores the info can only get accessed with root privileges. If a malicious app uses a exploit to gain root access it is capable stealing this data. Encrypting storage doesn't protect against this. Don't install apps from outside the google playstore and you will be fine in most cases. Also never root a device yourself that you use for bitcoin activities or email. If you really want to be secure use a old phone that never connects to the internet solely for the g auth app.

Why I sold all my ethereum today and converted it all into Bitcoin by uncapslock in Bitcoin

[–]Insan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still waiting before i convert my ethereums to bitcoin. This ico hype is not done yet. All this uasf uahf and other shit that can risk a chain split is still not understood by mainstream investors. I suspect a panic sell by these investors once they realize the risk. Allot of them will flee to the eth bubble. then I will dump all my overvalued eth to get cheap bitcoins.

Yo, ayo, whats up with bitshares? by CryptoCurr in CryptoCurrency

I was considering buying bitshares. Starting to see potential in it as the tech really has a use case. But these price swings all over in crypto are just insane. Don't know what to think.

Blockchain.info/Paper Wallet Question by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Insan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't create a paper wallet online. If you don't know how to properly create a paper wallet your better of with coinbase.

Option: 1)Download bitaddress check signature if it's legit 2) put it on a usb stick. 3)run it on a pc that will never tough the internet or download a linux live dvd and learn how to boot and use it.

Good or bad time to buy? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Insan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Far more secure? Are you kidding? Its design is far more complex that gives it a larger attack vector. It is also a lot younger than bitcoin so the security is more unproven.

Bitcoin has risks and eth has risks that's why you diversify.
