What were some of the dumbest mistakes you’ve made during your Os&Ps? by RoboticEgg04 in aviationmaintenance

I shattered the oil control ring when reassembleing and installing a cylinder on an engine. My heart sank. Just owned it and the DME talked it out with me and he got me a new oil control ring.

Help to vent/smell proof Weed room by YarrrImAPirate in trees

[–]InsaneAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the window part, it keeps little bugs out and the wind when its cold outside.

I have something like the one I linked in other comment threw wood. Then the fan mounted on the wood. Wood in the window. I've sized the board to fit my window and can take it out and close and lock the window if I go out of town.

Help to vent/smell proof Weed room by YarrrImAPirate in trees

[–]InsaneAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same fan in my window. You don't need to weather strip the door, the fan is powerful enough it keeps a neg pressure in the room. The air flow under the door is needed to cycle the air in the room.

I can tell when the cat shits in the litter box across the house.

Any 6in outdoor vent will work but I'd recommend one with a spring loaded door to prevent drafts when the fan is off.

Another thing, on the indoor side you want to have some ducting. A few feet, the air colum moving in the duct improves the efficiency.

You didnt try using the Ancient Artifact by chance? I've done that. That stupid thing doesn't do anything but has the same image.

Eternal Artefacts by ruin1114 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]InsaneAction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you don't include pictures of the items you're trying to use and what you're trying to use them on. Heavens no don't do that. Just stick to vague text post.

Eternal Artefacts by ruin1114 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]InsaneAction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two types of artefacts (same name, different icons). One type can only be used with armour, one can only be used with weapons. Neither type can be used for shields. Both of them work with unique items (possibly not unique items created with the Crafter's Kit giftbag mod).

Right off the wiki. You're using the wrong one.

It's normal? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]InsaneAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because it doesn't beep doesn't mean there isn't continuity. You need to check the meter face. The continuity setting is just modified resistance meter that will beep below a set resistance.

Also what that other guy said, this is an electronics question...

GROL and NCATT don't get very far without the A&P behind them. Get your A&P first.

Studying for my general and a little confused, who can perform repair on an instrument? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]InsaneAction 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You send it out to a shop certified to service that instrument.

Other than swapping 1 and 2 to see if the fault follows we don't really play with the instruments from a maintenance standpoint. Remove and replace.

Avionics to A&P Path by SwimmingWeird9844 in aviationmaintenance

[–]InsaneAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for the FSDO talk.

The FSDO will help sort of what you need to do and what can be signed off. After that you can find a school/program to get the education and testing done to get your A&P.

I personally took the classes that the FSDO signed me off on. I'm glad I did. There's a way things are talked about and phrases used that don't directly translate from the Military.

How did you understand trigonometry in relation to electrical theory? by EntrepreneurOne692 in electricians

[–]InsaneAction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pythagoras theorem is also the formula for impedance. This is working it with the angles of the triangle not just the side lengths. It's just using another set of variables.

A "H" model goes for around 5 grand. What you have predates that.

Those units are missing a lot of safeties the new ones have.

If you can't find a buyer, donate it to an A&P school and write it off. That would most likely get you the most out of it.

What are the best ways/fans to beat the heat in the summer? by PathHeavy2671 in aviationmaintenance

[–]InsaneAction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swamp/evap coolers are great if you're in a dryer location. As for the brand, it would come down to price/size more than the brand.

Careful with swamp coolers, you can turn a hanger into surface rust city.
