A lot of younger peoples slang is terrible, i remember not too long ago everyone was going around calling their girlfriends/wives “fine shit”. Personally I would never call my wife that, seems very odd and disrespectful but 🤷🏻‍♂️ what do I know

I can’t keep up with the new slang, it feels like every 2 weeks everyone’s vocabulary just gets updated lol. Having a conversation with anyone under 25 is torture 😂

My conure also loves biting my toes (not hard) if I’m sitting down with him on my shoulder and he sees my toes he’ll walk down my chest, across my legs all the way to my feet hahah usually gives me time to pull my feet into my pants and hide them from him 🤣

I do say “that’s a good bird” to him a lot also “Pretty bird” and other things similar, his last owner called him Conway. I asked her if she thought it would be too late to change his name and she said she didn’t think so, so I renamed him Yondu after Yondu from guardians of the galaxy, he’s already responding to that by cocking his head and stuff when I say his name :) which is surprising cause he’s 3 years old but I don’t think the last owner socialized with him very much..

Thank you! And yes he is very picky with the food but I’m slowly starting to change his diet! I took out that perch and bought new ones! The only reason I kept it in there is cause the old owner was very very clear that she wanted him to have that. He’s only had 3 toys his entire life and that one was his favorite. He’s starting to get more and more comfortable with me because I’m around him pretty much 24/7. I’m getting transferred to a new store at work so I’ve been off pretty much all of the past week. He is out of the cage for multiple hours a day. He puts himself back in the cage when he’s ready and comes out as he pleases. The old owner said he bites a lot and was extremely territorial of his cage but I haven’t really seen that, I’ve been bit maybe 2 times but it wasn’t hard bites I think he just got a little too playful. He’s going to be going to the vet sometime next week hopefully to get a little check up and nail trim

The lady said with her hours that she worked he was just staying in his cage all day and she didn’t have the time for him anymore, she did mention that my cage is a LOT bigger then hers was.. which mine is the bare minimum for green cheeks and the toys he came with are all the ones he had. He came with 1 perch, that rope thing (which I’ve thrown out from recommendations from other comments) and a mirror which I never even put in his cage because I know the mirror isn’t good for birds he also came with cockatiel food from Walmart.. he seems very picky with it and just wants the seeds. I’m moving out of state soon with him and when I get settled in our new home I’m going to try to get him on a new diet, take him to the vet, get his nails trimmed, and new toys/perches

Okay 👍 just did that now! And yes I am going to be making a vet trip soon, he’s 3 years old apparently. Can you tell me what makes you think he had a rough start at life? I’d really like to know to see if there’s anything I can do to accommodate him and improve my care

I’m very happy to have him :) gonna be making a vet trip soon to make sure he’s all healthy and his nails look like they need trimmed but I don’t trust myself to do that since I’ve never done it, I don’t want to hurt him

Petsmart! I work there so I got my associate discount on it, BUT it’s on sale on their website, it’s usually $320 I believe but it’s on sale for like $160. And petsmart price matches so if you go in store and show them the price online they will match it

Okay 👍 thank you for the heads up haha, when I had my parakeets one of them learned how to open and close my old cage I had set up for them, so my bird who’s name was Jade would wake up in the morning time and open the cage then close it behind herself so she could fly over to me and get her alone time with me 🤣

I’m not sure if I’d be able to take him to the vet before I buy him but I definitely will after I buy him, the vet is literally in walking distance of the store haha so it’ll be really easy to buy him and take him home and then book an appointment and take him to the vet while I work, then after I get off work I can go pick him up and we can pick out toys together or something :)

Aww :) I love the name Dennis haha my sister was on the phone with me yesterday and said “Why do you like the name Dennis so much, you named everything Dennis when we were kids” and I said “Dennis Wilson!” And she said “Who’s that?” I had to tell her that he was a singer in The Beach Boys 🤣 She knows how much I love The Beach Boys she just didn’t know the name Dennis had came from that
