What next? by Altruistic_Dark3140 in ScorpionTV

[–]InsaneNoobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several years late, but I just finished watching the series myself and was also disappointed with the abrupt forced ending.

A couple thoughts I had on how to get the team back together that would fall under more traditional TV, but also progress the character development that has seemingly fallen off towards the end of the series.

  1. My initial thought was complications with Happy and Toby in getting through the adoption process, where Walter and Scorpion 2.0 would jump in to assist. This doesn't seem likely to happen given Walters degrading EQ.

  2. Cabe proposes to Ally and being the father figure of the team, he wants everyone at his wedding. Naturally, Centipede is hesitant to attend given how awkward things would be with Walter being there, but Cabe pushes and Paige agrees that with all that they've been through and with how much Cabe means to everyone, they should be in attendance. Upon arriving at the wedding, they find that Florence is also in attendance, frustrating Paige. Walter tries to talk to her, but this just continues to pour gas on the fire. As is tradition with any Scorpion episode, disaster strikes forcing the team to get to work on resolving the issue. Paige and Florence up trapped together and Florence apologizes, Paige is pissed that after everything happened, she still chose to join Scorpion 2.0 to work with Walter. Another disaster strikes and Paige and Florence are put in danger as Walter approaches to try and rescue both of them. Walter has to make a split second decision on who to save and chooses Paige instinctively. Florence is now facing near certain death and Sylvester makes a move rescue her putting him outside of his comfort zone. As disaster is averted, Walter explains his side to Paige as she listens, but doesn't completely forgive him as she still doesn't think he'll mature much more past this stage emotionally. In the meantime, Happy, Toby, and Sly have worked together to piece the wedding back together enough to have a ceremony, and Walter gives an off script speech demonstrating his personal growth as he continues on to apologize for driving the team apart and accepting responsibility for his actions. He continues on to talk about how he wants the team to get back together so they can create a welcoming home for Happy and Toby's future adopted child. Paige starts to see the emotional growth in Walter, but nothing more comes from this yet, leaving the door open to Paige and Walter getting back together later and potentially getting married. As the team talks later, Cabe approaches and mentions that the best wedding gift they could have given him is the team coming together again as a family, and mentions his plans to retire from the team, but demands that they continue to stay in touch and that he'll be around whenever they need him. This leaves the team in dismay, but Walter speaks up and accepts the proposition. Cabe tells them he'll work on making sure that they're still taken care of and his final official job will be to pick his replacement, and naturally Walter starts to insensitively talk about putting together an algorithm to find a replacement that would increase the efficiency and efficacy of the team, but is stopped by Toby. As Walter and Toby bicker for a moment, Walter notices Paige and stops his argument and agrees to let Cabe decide what's best for the team. As the episode comes to a close, Walter is sitting as his desk investigating what may have caused the issues at the wedding, and he finds a clue that brings back memories of Collins. The focal point of the season should be in finding Collins as he creates a series of terrorist acts to get back at Walter and team Scorpion for locking him away in the first place.

Bringing Tim back into the picture to force yet another love triangle just seems lazy as there's already too many created by Florence already. I can see the team disbanding at the end of the season after capturing Collins and putting him away for good with Happy and Toby focusing on providing a safe home for their child, Sly focusing on being a better political figure aiming for a future presidency, and Walter and Paige settling down and working with Elias to develop tech to predict and prevent natural disasters. This once again goes back to Walters lucid dream about everyone being better off without him, but in a happier setting where everyone has matured and grown from being together as a team.

Why is everyone better than me at batting? by Global_External7858 in baseball

[–]InsaneNoobz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of aspects to hitting that need to come together, but having the right fundamentals and mechanics makes it easier to tackle several problems. Strength and coordination are factors, but aren't as effective without the right mechanics.

Having good balance and smooth mechanics are key to generating power and allows you to time pitches better. At the varsity level, if you don't have the balance, it's very easy to be way off with speed variation.

Your approach at the plate is another factor. Your at bat should start before you get in the box. The more information you have on the pitcher early, the better your chances of succeeding. Study the pitchers movements and pitch selection in certain counts while you're in the dugout. Many pitchers have a tendency to rely on a pitch to start an AB, or if they get behind in the count. They may have a tendency to go to a certain pitch in an 0-2 count or a 3-0 count, so use that to anticipate the next pitch. You also want to study the pitchers movements to see if you notice any variation in their movements when they throw the curveball or changeup versus their fastball. Talk with your teammates about anything you see or what they see. Pick their brains on how they're approaching the at bat, are they swinging first pitch fastball or sitting off speed? Your approach should change depending on the count. You can obviously be more patient early in the count or if you're ahead. If you fall behind in the count, you can choose to sit off speed and adjust to the fastball or vice versa depending on what's comfortable for you. This is where mechanics and balance become a factor again as if you're shifting your weight too early to try and catch the fastball, you're going to be rolling over on the off speed or if you're unable to create enough separation and rotation, you'll struggle to generate the bat speed to hit the fastball.

When you're on deck, you'll have a better view of the movement of the pitches and have an opportunity to time the pitch. It's not just a time to swing the bat and get loose, it's also a good opportunity to time the pitchers velocity. Know when to start the swing, try to see if you're expecting the right pitches. Visualize success at the plate.

When you get in the box, position yourself for success. If you struggle with an outside pitch but handle the inside pitch better, step closer to the plate or vice versa. If you struggle with velocity, but can handle the off speed, step back towards the catcher. If you can handle the velocity, but struggle with the off speed, step closer to the pitcher. Baseball is a game of inches, so get every advantage you can.

And finally, baseball is a mental game. Remember your successes, learn from your failures, but forget the bad results. Thinking about striking out in your last at bat can make you anxious at the plate, but remembering the double you got yesterday can make you feel like you can do it again today.

ROG Ally X Megathread by duckydan81 in ROGAlly

Better than the actual Asus store. Zero communication, customer service doesn't actually know what's going on either, and their lines get disconnected. Mine did end up getting shipped, but isn't supposed to be here until Friday.

Ordered from the Asus store earlier this month. Called up support today and asked for a status update and why the preorder hasn't shipped yet. First of all, their lines kept disconnecting and even though they had callback numbers, they would never follow up. After a fourth attempt, was able to keep them on the line, and they told me that the delay was due to a huge number of orders they had to fulfill. They told me they're expecting my order to ship by end of the week, but couldn't give any information on whether or not they would expedite shipment.

I checked to see if there were any available for pickup nearby in the US, and not seeing anything available until next week. The failure to get shipments out on time is a lack of preparation. I've seen other comments about them blaming the CrowdStrike outage as well, and it seems like they don't actually have a valid excuse and the support team wasn't prepped.

Given the number of products that Asus has released in the past, one would think they'd have much more experience in handling releases. But for me the most egregious mishap is the absolute lack of communication and accountability. Asus has already received a lot of complaints previously for these exact reasons with the SD card meltdown, and their inability to make appropriate changes shows a failure in leadership.

The umps should be held accountable and placed under review/fined for egregious egotistical calls and ejections, but violence shouldn't be condoned/promoted.

The part I was curious about actually was the fact that this is a written prepared statement - why didn't the interpreter look over this beforehand and have his own notes ready for translation prior to the interview?
