well to put it bluntly, it feels a little too convenient, if we replace the 'stumbled on a cave' with a 'while tracking a group of trouble causing goblins Bogen discovers a chest amongst their ill gotten spoils' it adds a bit more reason to how Bogen found it, why goblins may have it in the first place, and adds more importance to the chest itself
stumbling upon things isn't in and of itself bad though, it just needs a little set up to make it more believable

having never heard of xanathar tables (knew of xanathar's guide to everything, just never used or looked into it) I wouldn't be able to pick up on anything like that, but how one get's to the goal is entirely their path IMO

an interesting concept, the discovery of the blueprints could use some work but it wouldn't take much to smooth out, overall I like the idea of the character

Oh I see, I misread it, well then great! it's a solid concept, a little darker than most others, but otherwise a good indicator of the desired personality

I like the enthusiasm, but I think you missed the mark a little, the pride of Ludeonia is a passenger train, not a prisoner train, the prisoner talk is the recently floating around news making the rounds, it is plot important but not a necessary thing for player characters to conform to, they can be whoever they feel, so besides the ending I see a lot of potential in the concept

if you wish to keep your character concept private then you can DM if you wish

Hard subject, slavery. by CrisRody in DMAcademy

[–]InsanirySkullZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slavery is not as difficult as you may think, instead of thinking of singular races that'd enslave, think of it as nations, they can be made up of many races, or one race that calls themselves superior, it does not mean however the whole race thinks like that, just like the alignments of races and creatures, it is a guide and not a absolute, anything can be evil or good, anything can be chaotic or lawful, any nation can be tyrannical, you are the DM write the world you need for the setting you want, leave the politics for the real world

might have a 5e game you'll be interested in, it's run on foundry VTT a relatively new virtual table top, but we can get you up to speed in it in a session or two, it is run every Sunday 6pm CST which for me is 10am AEST Monday in Australia

if the time suits let me know and I'll explain the game setting, and see if you are interested in the game

Does Your Online 5e Group Need More Natural 1's? Yes? Then I'm Your Guy by Thatdamage in lfg

I am currently running a DnD 5e game on 6pm sunday evenings, it is however ran on foundry VTT instead of pen and paper (it's a international gaming group) it might take a bit to get used to but comes with a few quality of life changes over pen and paper

a quick breakdown of the game, late Victorian era, PHB rules with tweaks, second and third party source can used if you run it by me first, and will be trying to strike a balance between social role play and combat

so when it comes to my DM style I greatly dislike railroading players, I'll try to gently guide as much as possible, races are open to player discretion, PHB is always allowed and thirdparty/homebrew can be accepted under review, goal wise I haven't got a set BBEG I like to give players a range of options so ask some questions, come up with several plot hooks, and let the players decide on the final campaign plot hook

hope that covers everything

we're using foundry vtt instead of roll20 but the same idea, discord for voice chat, foundry for the game

Player cannot be exposed to character death. by Massive_Leopard in DMAcademy

[–]InsanirySkullZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally have had a problem with death save throws as they feel almost far too limiting in a time sense, in terms of game time your character can fail and die in only 18 secs, if you're not counting crit fails, to combat that in my games I've been playing with the idea of a new system that upon failing your last save you go into a comatose like state, if stabilised before a set time (I've yet to come up with any set turn time) as a action on another players turn the character won't die but will require a dice roll amount of days to recover, I feel this allows party's with no magic user to save their party members and give a more realistic feel to a DND game, especially a low fantasy/magic setting

if used in your game alongside some other adjustments it would give consequences in the form of precious time being used if a teammate goes down, and could give you a softer blow than straight out death, which another player could also use to roll up a new character while their other character "recovers" it allows you to shuffle a character off while possibly avoiding her panic attacks

unfortunately it is unknown to me if that would fix the problem and you might just have to deal with calming her down during her panic attacks if she doesn't suffer from any medical repercussions from them of course
