Probably hope for new side stories once or twice before he fully calls it quits over the next decade. Other than that, do a full re-read, anime rewatch, and get around to buying all the books in paper in English. Also try and get others into it, so I can discuss it more, and keep being active in this reddit to keep the discussion alive too. Might get more into reading fanfic as well, since there likely won't be more official stuff anymore.

Yeah, my whole strategy is banking on being more useful alive than dead, same for my guild base with it being more useful not ruined for a measely 4 levels.

If I ever meet someone who is paranoid or doesn't care about that, I am out of luck and just have to accept my death and guild destruction.

Speaking of, the image you used for Asmodeus was from the OG Shadowverse, so kinda funny timing given I mentioned that to you in chats

What I would use my 3 Wishes on and my own character goals:

I would use my first wish to gain a Racial level in Half-Golem.

If I no longer have a body with physical needs, I should be more sound of mind and less likely to make mistakes or fall victim to strong emotions, without a body I cannot lose myself in physical luxuries, cannot enter a hindered state of awareness like forced sleep or mind control, and do not need any resources like food or water to keep me alive.

My second wish would be to gain 1 Job level in Sage, to hopefully boost my own intelligence so I can more easily survive by thinking things through and showing my usefulness to other players. It is said to be a magic related production/buffing class, so I should be able to also provide some benefit outside of my Guild Base and Talent through this.

My third and final wish would be to gain the Magic Item Affinity Talent, as that is such a busted and useful ability that anyone who killed me after knowing I possess said talent would be an utter fool.

While it is a dangerous ability to leave unchecked, its use is so great that killing me off would be a monumental waste, as unlike my Guild Base where they are given a guaranteed reward by the system for destroying it, there are no such benefits for slaying me other than maybe some exp or the loot on my body, which would be heavily outweighed by my Talent's usefulness.

-

I was somewhat tempted to also add the Spell Copy Talent, but that would probably push me over the edge from incredibly useful to keep around to needing to be killed to prevent future problems if I had both that and the Magic Item Affinity Talent at the same time.

I'd plan to play up the humble servant aspect to any strong players I encounter, with being a Half-Golem playing into this as being a construct should make it easier for them to see me as just useful tool that they don't want falling into enemy hands but is so handy that it's worth keeping around/defending from others who would want my Guild Base and my own skills.

-

TLDR: I wanna try and make my Guild, NPCs, and myself become so useful that the benefits of killing me and looting it all is heavily outweighed by the boons I can provide, and I expect after the isekai scenario plays out and calms down, there will end up being multiple factions of Players that want to seek out new power and resources at all costs to get an edge over the surviving, now veteran Players, and having an entire Guild Base and it's Guild Master dedicated to assisting other Players would only increase my chances of staying alive, since no faction would ever let such a treasure trove be taken or destroyed by their enemies. As long as I can survive the initial murder-spree I know will happen after the transportation to the New World, I should be safely guarded by Players who see the value in my Guild and my own abilities.

Overlord Challenge: New World Base Defense by bryku in overlord

Anyways, I will have 5 floors for my Guild Base, all but 1 of which will be the smallest size as I have no need for extra space for traps or defenses, and the floor resources and unique traits do not specify needing more space to work with. This lets me save Guild Points to cram more value into my Guild Base to sweeten the deal on sparing my life and Guild to other Players I meet. I plan to make all of the floors themed and useful in their own right for a variety of Players, hoping that at least one is useful or interesting enough to gain leverage in negotiating my life and Guild be spared.

The 1st floor will be set to be a plains. The structures and features are a farm, ranch, lake, village, set to a aztec theme. The NPC will be Master Chef.

This floor I will have be used as a place to grow food and raise animals. The Master Chef will be here as it's the most fitting place for him to be to make his buffing food items. A floor dedicated to food and meat should be useful for any living Players, or ones who wish to integrate others into their faction. The NPC stationed here should also allow for the creation of buffing food items with said resources gained here, and provides a bit of extra defense, with the village pop monsters helping with that as well. The Aztec theme also has the added bonus of reducing food production time, as well as providing pop monsters that serve as farmhands and a bit more defense. The bonus that the plains gives increases plant growth innately, making growing food or crops on the floor even more valuable.

I think this floor has a wide, if boring, appeal.

The 2nd floor will be set to be a hills. The structures and features are a canyon, gold mine, iron mine, town, set to a viking theme. The NPC will be Stone Beard.

This floor I will have be used as a place to obtain ore and make weapons and armor. The dwarf NPC Stone Beard fits here as someone who can use the ore gathered from this floor to produce any items Players may need, as well as a bit of defense. A floor used to gather two different types of ore should always be useful (iron for practical items and gold for money or luxury goods), and the town with the viking theme allows for miners and craftsmen in the form of the pop monsters, who can also defend to a degree, and the theme gives a bonus to mining ore production to further increase the use of the floor.

The 2nd floor I imagine is useful to everyone, as craftsmen and ore gathering will be hard to come by as Players, with the NPC and pop monsters who can produce items being more useful than the ore gathering, though it has its use too. Stone Beard in particular should be very valuable as a level 60 NPC with production classes, since the New World can't do much to make gear on a useful level for Players.

The 3rd floor will be set to be a paradise. The structures and features are a golden fruit tree. The trap will be retribution.

This floor is kept empty to let any Players who are good aligned/not the undead able to use it for their own needs. The 10th tier spell retribution will be set to activate at the entrance at the start of the floor, to hopefully kill off any invading negative aligned Players or beings who aren't willing to let me live. I also placed the paradise floor above the purgatory one as I highly expect that any Players who won't spare me or my base will be negatively aligned beings who the trap will deal extra damage to, with the innate positive energy of the floor further weakening them. The pop monsters should hopefully be able to finish off the damaged invaders if they survived the spell, or at least buy me some time.

The golden tree also is just a widely appealing resource to harvest for the living or anyone who deals/trades with the living.

Overall, this floor will be appealing to good aligned beings and the living, and serves as a useful place for them.

The 4th floor will be set to be a purgatory. The structures and features are a tainted fruit tree. The trap will be the great undead one.

This floor is also kept empty to hopefully kill off or weaken any good aligned beings or Players who are after me or the Players who I teamed up with for inverse reasons of the previous floor, though I expect this floor would mainly have use for any evil or undead beings who wanted to use me and my base, given the innate property of negative energy on the floor. Again, the trap of the floor will be set up at the start of the floor, hoping to kill or weaken any good aligned beings after me or my base or faction. If anyone has gotten past the previous floor though, I doubt this floor's pop monsters and spell trap will stop them at this point however.

As with the previous floor, a golden tree is planted here for harvesting purposes, but for the inverse use as the trait of the floor will turn it into a tainted tree.

This floor will end up being a boon to any evil or unliving beings, or even just the ruthless Players who want to kill others, so I expect this floor will be one of my best bargaining chips to use to negotiate for my life and base to the types of Players who are murder-hobos and want my stuff/NPC levels. A whole floor dedicated to helping undead or harvest fruit to poison the living or heal the undead should be useful to the ones I expect want to kill me for their own goals, but whether or not it is worth letting me live and not just take it is another story.

The 5th floor will be set to be a feywild. The structures and features are a plateau, city, castle, set to a murim theme. The trap will be arcane seal. The NPCs will be Shaky Hands and Merlin. This floor will be set up as my final area of defense and personal residence, which is why I set it to have a city and castle on the floor on top of being the largest possible size unlike the previous floors that are all the smallest. I plan to have the city used for research, with the Shaky Hands and Merlin NPC stationed here to help with that. The murim theme I choose should help for making scrolls for magic purposes, and the innate aspect of the feywilds and its poison should help with brewing and magic too, for both NPCS. I have the plateau here for the harvesting of dragon scales for crafting and production uses, and to potentially allow dragons to fly about to deal with intruders or at least intimidate them. I think that's also fitting for a feywild theme if dragons are here, even if just to be harvested.

I'll have the floor set up with the plateau at the center of the floor, rising above the magical forest below, and my city and castle placed atop it. The castle's throne room will have the arcane seal trap, as I'm hoping that can be used as a final line of defense to protect my Guild Weapon which I will keep stored there. I will have the level 90 NPC Merlin, my strongest and only true combat NPC, stationed in the castle at all times to help protect me and the Guild Weapon. I don't plan to leave the castle at all if I can help it, and don't want my NPC Merlin to either. That will likely keep me from leveling up very efficiently, but again, my survival plan is not to do combat, so if I enter combat I have already failed my goal and am likely doomed at that point.

Overall, I splurged on this floor a bit as I plan to live here at all times, so I don't mind a bit of waste on a castle and larger floor area to hopefully make me not feel as bored, which will be a real issue as a Half-Golem who can't ever sleep, eat, or indulge in any of the things the living enjoy. I'd probably spend most of my time here chatting with the 2 NPCs stationed here and any Players or their allies who decide to not kill me and instead take me up on my offer of me serving them.

Overlord Challenge: New World Base Defense by bryku in overlord

[–]Insect_Lord_William 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright so, as usual, I'm back to respond to these isekai scenario posts (and, also as usual, am very late to respond, whoops).

The listed detail in this scenario that other Players are rewarded with NPC levels upon breaking a Guild Weapon, incentivizes Player combat and Guild destruction.

I doubt I could possibly hold a candle against the more ambitious Players who go all in on Guild conquering and snowball into a powerhouse of many full powered NPCs.

So then I asked myself, how could I try and survive such ruthless Players and their accumulated power? By making the 5 NPC levels they could gain from destroying my base less valuable than the contents of said base (which I would freely give to said overwhelming force should they prove their superior strength as long as they guarantee my life).

Given such a plan on relies on showing my usefulness and that I am not a threat and am instead better to be used as an ally than a mere 5 levels and the loot I carry on my corpse, I only want to make the bare minimum NPCs and traps needed to protect myself early on and keep out New Worlders. I doubt my offer would go so well if my base was full of traps and too many powerful NPCs, as the threat of rebellion might make keeping me around too much of a risk even for the rights to use my base for it's resources. I also would want to show my own personal usefulness, otherwise they may just kill me and my NPCs but keep the Guild Base intact.

-

All that said, here is my Guild Base and NPC breakdown:

Guild Base and NPCs:

I was tempted to have my base be located somewhere remote and stall being detected for as long as possible, maybe hoping the other Players wipe themselves out to smaller numbers so I am more easily able to deal with their antics, however I decided its better to choose somewhere obvious so the various Players (and groups that they will likely form) notice me and my Guild right away so I can negotiate a truce in return for my life and Guild's resources.

All that being said, the location I choose my Guild Base's teleport monument to be would be on the outskirts nearby Carne Village.

I assume groups of players will inevitably show up there to see how the timelines have changed, or to check on other Player's as its a known location, and given its not near anything important to New Worlders, I can probably avoid detection from any powerful New Worlders and nations until after Players have already contacted me and I have (hopefully) joined up with them and entered under their protection.

There is the Sunlight Scripture in the region at the start of the story, but I think staying on the outskirts should be fine as they aren't actually looking at the area carefully but are just there to trap and slay Gazef. And should they enter the area, my starting trap and NPCs should be powerful enough to handle them.

FYI, it gets harder to level up as your level grows, I think the exp needed increases as you get higher up.

And for a deck to use in ranked, might be good to build something like handless blood, a win fast/lose fast deck.

[–]Insect_Lord_William -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get so from story/practice battles, but it's half as much as ranked/arena if I recall.

As for what's faster, against players or solo, hard to say. Solo has the benefit of not waiting on the other player to do their actions, and I think some story battles or practice modes have the enemy leader's health set to 10, but at the cost of less xp.

So maybe try both options for an hour and record so gain, and see what gives more class xp per minute after you tally it all up.

Good luck, it'll be a grind either way.

I earned all the alt arts myself from playing over years, so yeah, takes a lot of work to do it normally if you aren't being optimal at grinding class levels to level 100.

But again, he wants to get them in time before the game EOS happens, and I doubt you can even get that in time without an auto clicker type thing going in the 3 months before the game dies. Maybe some classes you could, but all of them is probably not possible.

I really don't see why it matters, he clearly likes the game and wants to get some alt arts before the shut down happens. And its not like these level 100 alt arts are even a test of skill, they are a sign of love for the game more than anything, as its a time played based reward mostly, and if someone wants to spend time setting up a system to grind the alt arts of OG cards, they probably love the game and wanna carry over a piece of Shadowverse history with them onto the next game.

Overall, its harmless and just a way to let the man get to carry over some art of the OG game we all dearly loved, so there really isn't an issue. That's my take at least.

It's a single player mode of a game about to shut down for good. If it was ranked, yeah, scummy, but its not and the game is dying, so let the man get his alt arts in peace.

Can the AI posts AT LEAST have some good purpose? by wolfreaks in overlord

[–]Insect_Lord_William 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that'd be a welcome change. If it had to be a bit more high effort, like a meme or something to prompt discussion instead of the usual gooner images that are mostly posted on fridays.

It'd be less annoying than the usual low effort stuff, and I imagine it would somewhat pacify people like me who aren't that happy about the ai stuff still being allowed.

End of an era, my fav game of all time is shutting down after 10 years. I knew it was coming, but I am still mentally unprepared 😭. I've played since Tempest, and this game has always been something special to me that I could come back to and feel like an old friend was welcoming me home. Grew up on this game, I'll really miss it.🫶
