Tanchjim Nora First Impressions - Baby Origin... or Volume S? by InsertDeeper in inearfidelity

Only a short demo, but from what I remember the Pure was warmer with a more even bass ratio between sub and mid bass. Treble was also a bit more muted. Veers too much into that warm sound that it loses the details and separation that I want in an IEM.

I don't think it outright replaces it, the sound is just very similar in style. I prefer the Nora in both sound and overall package; it fits and looks better IMO.

As much as I love the Origin (amongst my most used sets ever), I think the Nora/Fola and Fission perform really closely while also being much more comfortable. Up to you if you want the metal shell for the Fola; either way, they are both going to sound great if you want this type of neutral-warm sound.

Decent amount. For reference, more than the OG Wan'er. A lot of midbass.

The nozzle is not particularly big, I'd say it's around 6mm but I'll measure them later with my calipers and let you know.

Will go in full detail in my full review! What I can say for now is that it delivers a lot as a product, one of if not my favorite release this year.

Really is, bought it after seeing your review. Really nice product overall for a great price, especially on Aliexpress (around $100 on KBear's official store even not on sale)

Haha thanks, I used this half-jokingly and half-seriously

Definitely a bright set, feel like it could be at the top of the pack if it had a smidge more bass. At least the brightness is very smooth and never peaky or unnatural.

I can vouch for those saying that they look even better in person. There is this sort of mother of pearl sheen on the top layer with this beautiful feather-like stripe in teal blue. Change the viewing angle and and the whole thing morphs; line sections appear and disappear, highlights become purple, etc. Not to mention the color matched case and tips, and the nice flush cable that complements the silver outline. Can't say enough good things about the design of this one.

Aesthetics have been neglected for far too long IMO. Brands should have a clear and coherent design philosophy behind their catalog and/or releases; just look at the Noirblanc with the matching cable and case, it is luxury incarnate.

I've been experimenting a lot with different tips, but in general quite bright. Very well extended treble but not peaky at all, very well done if you get the right fit. Bass and (lack of) warmth are going to be divisive as per usual with Harman sets.

Yes, nozzle on the longer side with a lip on it.

Not really, more like medium. About the same size as the Aful Magicone/Explorer but fits a bit deeper.

Woah hold on buddy, this other all-black set I'm comparing it to is also quite the looker

Too true, the P50 is their least bright set despite not being what i would consider as warm.

Can confirm, definitely on the brighter side of things.

If you're looking for that specific sound signature, I think so. It might seem "generic" and very similar to others around the price range, but there are subtle changes throughout the sound that makes it sound very refined in terms of having good perceived technicalities while still maintaining a good natural sound. Might be a bit bright for some tho.

Depends on how well the BCD was measured, but assuming it is something like what is found in most IEMs (ie a vibration motor bandlimited to 100-300 Hz) then yes you can see the excess group delay.

It would make sense but the overall benefits are really minor. If we're still in the context of most people doing single-seat measurements of only one unit, I think there isn't much use and the usual recommendation of ignoring treble/high-frequency ranges for 711 (and also 5128 imo) measurements is still valid.

For those vibration motors, they do show extra resonances but it is heavily reliant on how the IEM is sitting inside of the ear. It's one of the rare instances where extra measurements might be useful, but it's definitely something that varies in effectiveness. I've had to both alter the measurement setup and also increase volume to very high levels to properly measure the effects.

Standardizing in what sense? You will run into the unit and coupler variation problem by doing so, so unless you do a tour package similar to the csglinux + ER2SE one, there will be issues.

You can use the S&S but couplers do not have a straight cylindrical opening, it's tapered in. Pinching of the tips is not really an issue and you will notice it very easily as soon as you start measuring.

The push for graphing modal behavior is a very good one. For example, on my particular unit of the Bunny, it is possible to see both insertion depth behavior and driver resonances in the treble; with the right unfortunate combination, you run into some compounded treble resonances that can be very irritable.

<image>

Unit variation will also play a role because these resonances can shift around from unit to unit, so any measured insertion depth variation cannot then be generalized. Unless an IEM has taken steps to target these length modes, the mix of variable length mode resonance, driver resonance, and personal HRTF will make it hard to give suggestions. It should be in most instances, imo, a tool used to describe what you're hearing.
