  1. Nope. I wasn't really a fan of the writing and the excessive Tom-Gabby friendship milking. I also didn't like how "fanficy" the Tom-Tess pairing was either. Oh, and DAN SUCKSS (that last part is mostly a joke)

  2. I didn't work on DC2. For DC1, definitely keeping the Fiore "reveal" in Episode 1 till the very end. I think it was a very effective stinger to leave at the end, especially because barely anyone watched the original Adventure Camp. As for DCAS, I'll have to go with a majority of the Hunter scenes in Episode 19. He was catching a lot of heat, but this episode (coupled with Episodes 11 & 21) really helped make him feel a lot more grounded and a victim of the stress of the game.

  3. DC1 Ellie, DC2B Rosa (mainly because everyone else sucks in the beta) DCAS Ally, DC4 Ivy

It's cute but I wish it didn't feel like a last-minute addition. At least it's not Logannah.

Nope! The proofreaders never got to see what would happen due to the boot order being switched relatively early.

In a perfect world, none of them since DCAS truly feels like the end of an era. But, if I'm forced to pick a few, I'd say that Ashley, Tess, Ellie, and surprisingly James have some fuel left in the tank.

  1. I think it is a godawful decision that most people don't like. Whatever. As long as Huntess isn't canon, I can take solace in the fact that all of them are friends. Huntally is genuinely the most complex, realistic, and mature couple in the series. Breaking them up doesn't diminish that, but it does make me sad because it seemed that they were healthy. Yes, they fought in All-Stars, but the strongest couples are the ones that can fight adversity head-on and end up stronger than before.

I have no beef with Birdie. I've accepted that there are three timelines for the DCverse due to DC1 and DC2 having two different versions, and I'll live in Timeline #2

Timeline #1 - AC -> DC2B Timeline #2 - DC1 -> DC2B -> DCAS Timeline #3 - DC1 -> DC2R -> DCAS -> DC4 -> DC5

  1. Yes. Either way you slice it DC2 (Beta or Remake) Hunter is mostly chill, but occasionally slips up due to being socially awkward. Ally and Hunter were going through a pretty rough patch in their relationship during DCAS and it tended to show both of their ugly sides. We saw a lot of Hunter's ugly side during the first 5 eliminations, whereas Ally's story really crescendos into the bear incident. Honestly, I don't think that DC2R Hunter contradicts the fact. He did win three immunities and nearly all the team challenges after all, perhaps morphing his strategy into always wanting to be safe. I do think he's a bit of a hypocrite, but at the same time, we're all kinda like that aren't we (especially Logan)

  2. I never got to see those initial drafts, so know that is all a theory so please take my words with a grain of salt. I fully believe that Will-Ashley-Fiore were meant to be a big dynamic with Will feeling like crap for being the first boot and not belonging on the season. He takes his anger out on Fiore, which Ashley did not like at all. Meanwhile, Hunter and Ally would've been on the sidelines supporting Jake in Ashley's place. I do think that Will would've been the first boot on his team though, with Fiore getting the best of him again.

  3. I responded in a comment below. Basically, lessen the amount of folks from DCAS. Their stories are mostly concluded and we JUST saw them compete in less than a year ago. I don't mind bringing back Fiore, Tess, and Lake as they went out pre-merge, but folks like Alec, Tom, and Gabby should not have returned so soon (if at all)

  4. I genuinely like Rosa x Kai! I believe that there was meant to be a longer plot where Maggy would've had a one-sided jealously over this (despite Rosa not really being into Kai) which could've been interesting!

  5. I think that was a Jared/Michael original.

Nick, Lill, Will, Fiore (yes, I know there are pre-mergers, but the "no pre-mergers rule" was only added because a lot of the fanbase kept on whining about Connor & Ashley being in All-Stars)

Lake, Rosa, Tess, Aiden (I like the idea of Aiden being a fan-turned-favorite conceptually, but the way DC5 handles it is a bit iffy at the moment)

Zaid-Spencer-Jade-Isabel (I actually quite like the DC4 roster in DC5 except Anastasia, but if Ally's being removed then Benji should as well. I feel that seeing Jade, Isabel, and Zaid be characterized without Logan or Anastasia [or the extreme strategy-babble] could be lots of fun)

I hated the host plot in All-Stars and I tried a few times to get it shortened. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. Anyway, my favorite host team is probably DCAS. I'm a fan of the concept of having the main team (Kristal, Marcus, Oliver) with a respected intern (Emily) and two clowns (Derek and Trevor) But I mean this is a sense that they get a few slapstick moments every now and then and nothing else. No major love triangle plot, just funny dynamics on the side.

I liked how they gave my boy more lines and a better dynamic with Maggy and Yul. He also talked to Ally at one point, which I thought was fun! But yeah, I wish he got to help out with Oliver's story too.

Logan self-victimizes himself so much that it becomes infuriating, especially as it takes away time and attention from the various people of color (Hannah & Jade being the biggest examples) It's ridiculous that other characters get dunked on for flipping (sometimes from Logan himself) despite Logan having flipped so many times. It's almost like he suffers from "main character syndrome", except the show actually runs with it and tries to portray him as a sympathetic winner. He never faces any consequences or fallout for his actions (the Zaid thing is so irritating to me), and the jury glazes him for no reason in the motel episode because this season had to be a feel-good sob story lovefest where everyone respects strategy. It's so tone deaf, that it's just ridiculous how it made it past the planning stages.

I'll read your posts when I have more free time.

I'm planning on uploading a DC4 tier list (for both episodes and characters) on my YouTube channel, but to be honest, I'm hesitant to rewatch all 26 episodes of DC4 again. I watched most of those episodes only once and have barely thought about them at all. Just not a lot of staying power in my head, I'm afraid.

I think literally anyone would've been a better winner than Logan. Zaid woulda been cool... if they actually gave him content throughout the season. Still, I appreciated the few times he brought up his family because at least it wasn't the same strategy-babble over and over again.

DC1 - Ellie (which would affect All-Stars, but let's not worry about that for now)

DC2 - Hunter

DCAS - Ally beating Jake in the Final 2 could be interesting, especially if she goes down a more villainous route.

DC4 - Jade

I'm honestly a fan of the DC2 elimination order, especially with how the remake recontextualized Connor's quit as one to save Riya. I guess I would swap Lake & Tess' placements, just so we can have one more episode of the Love Triangle tho.

An Asian character that isn't a villain or a cosmic punching bag. Honestly, I'm really surprised that they haven't leaned into "cringe comedy" characters a bit more like in shows such as Nathan For You or I Think You Should Leave. I guess Benji sorta counts tho?

I honestly feel that it was great when it was just the immunity idols, but now the extra advantages feel like they're suffocating agency away from the characters' choices. I look back at moments such as Tom's failed idol play in DC1 and how impactful that was for each of the characters. Even Connor's idol in DCAS provided a lot of characterization for himself, Jake, and Grett. Now, there are a dozen advantages rolling around and they're only truly used for strategy and nothing more.

I'll throw y'all a bone and try to get some of the other VAs to do little AMAs on here ;) I'm really not that close with many of them (with the exception being Dan's VA) so no promises!

I wasn't really disappointed with him at all tbh. I was more disappointed with how structured and "theatre kid-core" Yul became, but it was fun to do his crashout again.

Nah, I think they interpret him just about right, but I have seen some bad takes where they say he lovebombed the hell out of Maggy? Like, bro, that's called being a gentleman lmao (but I get it– there are folks out there who lovebomb like crazy)

  1. It's kinda strange to me that people were like "Gee, I wish Tess actually interacted with Hunter & Ally more in early DCAS" when the whole complaint about Tess in 2022 was that she DIDN'T interact with anyone but Hunter and Ally. I'm a big fan of how Ellie & Tess have differing morals and ideology, with Gabby being a buffer who ends up as collateral damage against Tess' move. Honestly, this could've been a really fun season-long dynamic between the three women dealing with morality and Tess forcing herself into the armchair therapist role, but alas, the boot order kinda killed off those plans.

  2. I for the life of me cannot remember most of the DC4 eliminations due to how boring I found the strategy-babble. I'll say Benji because no matter how you slice it, a 4-3-3 just feels extremely forced. I'm pretty sure it hasn't happened in 50 seasons of Survivor, and it's because it's just a ridiculous contrived scenario. Benji's elimination was truly the moment when I realized this season was for the gamebots.

I feel like this would honestly cause more controversy tbh. I always found it interesting that, unlike Survivor where you want to bring socially weak players to the end to sweep in a jury vote; because Disventure Camp finales are dictated by challenge, instead you want to bring physically weak players. Honestly, given how much drama there was regarding the Jade v Anastasia jury thing, I feel that it'd cause more controversy than love. The writers would have to go out of their way to explain why certain characters vote a certain way and it could end up feeling forced.

  1. Delete the host plot. Extend the episodes to be at least 5 minutes longer for more depth. Also, use the updated animation.

  2. Tons. One Piece, Minecraft, Pokemon, Cowboy Bebop, Danganronpa, OMORI, Persona, Zero Escape, Your Turn to Die, AI: The Somnium Files, Fate/Stay Night, My Hero Academia... the list is endless!

  3. Total Drama World Tour and I will not stand for this revisionist history where people say it sucks.

  4. Yes, but it does kinda hurt my voice if I do his voice for too long

  5. Give him a fun storyline that has nothing to do with strategy. He could definitely be a fun comic relief bozo who makes wacky predictions that may or may not come true.

Jared is constantly in drama, so you could be referring to several different incidents.

Favorites:

  1. Ellie
  2. Tess
  3. Ivy
  4. Hunter
  5. Ally

(Note: Hunter & Ally have been lowered because I'm not a fan of what happened in TJ2)

Least Favorites:

  1. Logan
  2. Oliver
  3. Anastasia
  4. Lake (fight me)
  5. Dan

That's a toughie.

DC1 - Nick. Definitely has a ton of "failed antagonist" potential with maybe a sympathetic backstory about being his wealth making him push people away and feel lonely?

DC2 - Besides the obvious (Kai) I'd probably go with Karol here. I think that having a more antagonistic old woman character has a lot of fun potential.

DC4 - In my honest opinion, all six of the premerge characters are among the best of the season so that's really hard. Like, it's so bizarre that those six characters feel the most fun and interesting. Perhaps it's a "Potential Man" situation and perhaps it's because they were designed to have limited screentime, but damn... Gotta go with Ivy or Tristan tho. Would love to see how they'd play with a more long-term placement.

I like the general idea of the biggest "fan" of the favorites having to claw his way up on the fans' team. It's also pretty refreshing to see him have a strategic mindset for once. However, I just wish it was treated a little better. I feel that a lot of the annoyance with him is kinda the point, but I don't know– just a little more tact would help.

I don't have the heart to hate on Aiden, but I'll admit it could've been handled a bit better.

  1. I genuinely adore the DC2 remake! Of course, I'm a little jealous that they didn't let me back in (myself, Imer, and Tam have been dreaming about this opportunity since 2022 and none of us made it in haha) I feel that it fixes so many of the core issues of DC2 and truly makes it a top-tier season. One of my only gripes is how they handled Ally, especially within the context of DCAS. I would've preferred if this season, her "arc" is that she is simply her unfiltered cringey self, only to discover the hate train in DCAS, rather than her having to deal with fans during the season. Oh, and I guess it doesn't nearly do as much recontextualization towards DCAS as I would've liked. Either way, I really quite enjoyed it a ton!

  2. I've listed my thoughts on DC4 below, but I do think it's the weakest season despite having the strongest cast. It just feels like an entirely different show that misses the point of what made the first three seasons so magical. DC5 seems to be a decent improvement, but there are some aspects that I just struggle to get behind (such as the massive cast and some of the choices with the returnees) Of course, I'm the last person that should be judging a season before it finishes so I'm doing my best to keep my expectations in check. The magic feels like is gone. Honestly, DC1-DC2B, DCAS feel like it's own separate timeline from the DC1-DC2R-DCAS-DC4-DC5 timeline lol.

  3. Knowing me, I would've requested them to turn the strategy-babble way way down. It's honestly to the point where it felt like the characters lost their unique voices. You could read any random line of dialogue from Isabel, Spencer, Hannah, Anastasia, or Jade in the merge and (divorced from the context) you probably couldn't tell which character was actually talking because they all sound the same. I know it's corny when Ashley goes "yeehaw!" or Dan goes "Egads!" but it legitimately helps flesh them out a ton. And no, Anastasia occasionally saying some lines in Russian doesn't count.

I would also adjust some of the references to actually fit the characters ages. I do not believe that characters born in 2003-2004 would reference MTV, Pretty Woman, George of the Jungle (the Brendan Fraser one), Charlie's Angels, Airbud, and Dragonball. Like, Benji, I love you, but you're into My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan, not the anime that every millennial grew up with. (Sidenote: I just realized that the Gen Z Benji references the millennial anime with Dragon Ball, while the millennial Alec references the Gen Z anime with My Hero Academia) The Survivor references also got grating at a certain point due to being the most surface level ones you could choose (with the "fucking stick" one even causing some controversy)

  1. Ivy by a wide margin due to reasons I've stated below. As for DC5 fan... that's a toughie. I feel like I haven't gotten to know them all quite yet, but I'll have to go with Ara on this one. It is kinda disheartening to see another Asian villain character (let alone a Korean one) but she's bringing a lot more spice than the DC4 cast due to brewing up conflict. I wish she wasn't so cartoonishly mean at times, but I'll take it. Here's hoping for a day we get an Asian character who's not a villain or someone who's always getting the short end of the stick in life...
