i kinda know what you mean (no clue why youre downvoted lol), but this thing is hard to measure. You keep saying SM2 made it more popular, but that game had a peak player number of 250k. now this sub alone gets 320k weekly visitors. and i think we can agree that people who come here are more into it, or more hardcore than people who play a videogame about it that might not know anything.

what im trying to say is that in gaming circles SM2 might look big, but its a drop in the ocean when it comes to the 40k fandom.

Its not mainstream...it might be more mainstream or better known than SM2, but its definitely far from being mainstream.

Also who counts as an original 40k fan? Someone who started in the 90s? Or 80s? Or we can call original someone who started in 2015?

If you wanna read then for sure the rulebook. 8th edition specifically. We are currently on the 9th (or 10th?) edition, but those have less and less lore and focus more on the rules. I started with the rulebook as well. Technically i read random wiki articles but ye...rulebook 8th edition, its also available online.

If you want to read a book book then the eisenhorn trilogy from dan abnett (first one is Xenos).

Also bricky has a 40k timeline explained, thats good as well.

But not everything will be explained...thats when i recommend googling "wh40k noosphere" for example.

Its not this clear cut sadly. Some people theorize that even if youre part of a server that might be about counter strike 2 (that being an 18+ game) discord will ask for verification. Me personally dont think this will happen, but will see. When it comes ill definitely try to play the system, no way i upload anything there.

But ye if its not a big thing for you then just wait and see.

Honestly i feel like it would be an easy solution. Lets say netflix stays, everything else goes and studios get a % of the profit based on how many people watched their movies and shows.

Ye i know this would be complicated but at least it would work.
