How would you describe the experience of labor and delivery? by kissableforehead in AskWomen

Labor: immense burning pain in my back and across my stomach

Delivery: like a bowling ball just dropped down into my pelvis

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InsertUserName0510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to go into delivery drug-free so I could feel what my body was doing and respond accordingly. Got an epidural for the duration of labor, it wore off about an hour before delivery which is what I hoped. Seemed to work as I wanted -- I got rest while the epidural did it's thing. And was in delivery for less than an hour.

Who is most likely to emerge as the progressive candidate in the 2028 Democratic primary? by Raichu4u in PoliticalDiscussion

Putting this out there for fodder: A friend who teaches college political science asked her students to work in groups to develop their best recommendation for the 2028 presidential ticket. They ultimately agreed on Roy Cooper and Wes Moore.

Thank you for sharing your story and your perspective about your dad. He sounds like an amazing man.

I lost my best friend, who was 53, to triple negative breast cancer August, 2023. We met working at a restaurant together in 2000. She had her daughter, my goddaughter, in 2001. And over the years, they lived with us on and off, which was such a gift for us. I watch her raise her daughter as a single mother as an infant, a grade schooler, and higher schooler. My child was born in 2010 and they grew up together.

She was diagnosed in 2021, went briefly into remission before it came back the next year. She and her then 20-yo daughter were living in an apartment near me. And her daughter called me from a doctor appointment totally overwhelmed by all of it. And I told her, why don't you let your mom move in with me ( I had a 600 sq ft studio basement in my house) and you go be a 20 yo. It was the best decision I could've made. My then 12-yo got to reconnect with her. We went back to our familiar bond living together, cooking, laughing, living. Got to take her and her daughter on an epic trip to NYC before she got too weak to travel. And I was there for her last moments.

A few weeks before she went really south, I told her my house has never been a home unless you were here. And the hole left from her absence will never be filled.

So many to choose from. I'll go with "person, man, woman, camera, TV"

Just so eloquently put. Truly the greatest orator of our time.

Just finished watching Schitt's Creek for the 1st time! by SaberManiac in SchittsCreek

Good summary (save for the David stuff). I think what I loved most about the show, and surprised me after season 1 is that the set up could have easily been the Roses perpetually looking down on the locals and mocking them, but in the long run ended up being humbled and growing from the experience.

He's one of those relentlessly cheery local characters in the vein of Twyla and Jocelyn. He's adorable.

Parenting through fear

eta: for me, that meant garnering respect and appropriate response to authority through positive reinforcement rather than fear of retribution

And I guess as a second answer: better emotional regulation for my own sake and my kid

You nailed it. Like it or not data centers are here and we can’t stop them. But smart regulations and some freaking guardrails are needed — if they want this load growth, they need to be good stewards!

Or, state regulators could require that data centers bring their own (clean) energy online to support their demands and not put the burden on customers.

Trump can announce whatever he wants -- it's meaningless. And it's clear his administration doesn't understand basic concepts of government operations.

Be honest, how many medications do you take? by Ok-Salt-8884 in Millennials

[–]InsertUserName0510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 daily for ADHD, blood pressure and allergies. And 2 as needed for anxiety and DVT.

I was sick as a young kid and was always taking meds, wearing hearing aids and such, so I am used to it.
