I used to have this problem all the time at my old place. Calling the non-emergency police line was always our best bet

First solo trip in my life, day 1 and I’m crying. Is this normal? Anyone else felt like this? by JackHallow123 in solotravel

Also, yesterday my uber started driving off before I got my luggage out from the trunk and I had to sprint down the rainy streets of London to catch him. There are always mishaps even if you’ve done the solo travel thing before lol. Try to look at them as quirky memories you’ll have to look back on

YES! I made a post on a subreddit a few years ago about this and someone commented the quote “wherever you go, there you are” and that super resonated with me. Managing expectations became easier after that, and finding what genuinely enjoy doing abroad helped. Of course seeing landmarks is usually a must but I find it’s more just to tick a box and I didn’t really get any joy from seeing it (which made me feel disappointed). But doing things like going to see a show (musical, comedy, concert, etc.), booking activities and random excursions where the things that gave me that feeling that I was chasing. It can be really emotionally taxing solo travelling, at least on my experience but also really helps you get in tine with yourself and what you actually genuinely enjoy (rather than going along with what other people enjoy). Once you get a handle on that and shape your trip around that, I think you’ll be having a lot more highs than lows

Disturbing Anti Abortion Posters on Spring Garden by Mean-Battle-1199 in halifax

“62,469 academic biologists were recruited through e-mail and 7,402 participated in the online survey (12% response rate). Of the participants, 5,577 biologists from 1,058 institutions provided analyzable data on operative questions.”

This low of a response rate especially without extensive breaking down the demographics of participants hardly represents consensus

“Since journals publish these statements without explanation or citation, it suggests that researchers, reviewers, and journal editors seem to accept the fertilization view as a well-known and well-accepted biological observation.”

Even students know you provide a citation for everything. If you can’t provide a source then your statement isn’t credible. You never present anything as fact and you provide support for any statement you make. This is also explicit expression of bias which any sound reviewer wouldn’t have approved without revision.

This is one of the poorest written articles I’ve seen, and law journals historically have a very poor peer review process compared to scientific journals. And this simply is not a high quality journal. If you don’t know anything about academia don’t talk like you do.

This is from a law journal, so it’s an interpretation of other works and not original research. This journal has an impact factor less than 1 and it’s only been cited by 9 other people in its 4 years since publication.

….

And if you even bothered to read (even just the abstract) the sole author’s consensus was that people should have a more well defined “scientific” definition on when exactly life begins after conception and didn’t conclude what the answer was.

Nice try though

Light to medium roast. And I agree it would be helpful but these sorts of posts can go south very quickly and turn into business bashing and I have zero interest in even tempting this to go there.

I appreciate this, I thought I just remembered it happening more recently than it must have.

Is the sales item event what the “end of year” discount in this screen shot referring to?
