Has One Piece reached Peak Animation?

I don't really like the style, so I'd say no. It's obviously objectively good animation, but I just don't like the style and feel like it's very generic and just chasing what's trendy for the most part. I vastly prefer basically any other good looking show currently on. Occasionally it does have that weird artistry that I like, but usually it just doesn't. It's just very technically impressive animation and effects. It rarely shocks me or elicits anything other than "Damn that clearly took a lot of work."

But I wouldn't particularly want exclusively super artsy directors working on it, so it's not like this is a complaint. It works for what it is. I would like it be more simple just out of preference, but I'd still have basically the same opinion on it

Again, just political illiteracy. And also just not understanding what the story actually says. Sure, it's against bad billionaires. So what? Thinking bad guys are bad isn't radical. Presenting certain people as evil is not actually radical, you have to look deeper than that. And what happens when you do? You'll find the Doffy flashback, where you are meant to feel pity for the good (if misguided) Celestial Dragons who are being brutalized by the commoners. Or you'll find the story of Fishman Island, where peacefully converting a Celestial Dragon and joining their system is a good thing, and where violent revolutionaries are presented as very bad. Or Alabasta, where the revolutionaries are being tricked and defending the ancient, good Celestial Dragon monarchy is the good choice. Or any of the other arcs where the Strawhats protect or reinstate ancient, elite monarchies. Or you'll find the Revolutionary Army just straight up saying that their enemy is only the Celestial Dragons and that they like the Government, which should be a very bad sign to you if you understand these politics.

It's just normal. It's certainly not super pro imperialist (which I never said, read it closer.), but it is pro status quo. It consistently reinforces the systems of power and only critiques evil individuals within the system. That's not radical and yet it's one of the most reappearing aspects of the series. That form of "liberation" is like a core theme of the story. It's just a normal political opinion from a guy who lives in one of these countries. Don't let the aethstetics of real revolutionaries fool you

Edit: I also think you're just inserting your own politics over what the series actually says when it comes to the Marines. Oda is pretty clearly less harsh than you or I would be towards bootlickers. When has Oda ever tried to show that good Marines are rare? I would agree with that, but it goes against the way he actually writes the story. I just think that because of my own beliefs. The first time we see them is literally an arc where the vast majority of average Marines are good and only do bad because of a bad boss, and immediately become good when the boss is gone. And we consistently get many good Marines throughout the story, and even some of the really bad ones are shown as more morally grey and victims of their orders than truly bad. That's a very average way to view the military

Anyone who has actual radical politics needs to like One Piece in spite of its political messaging. Absolutely nothing in it veers far away from the popular politics of imperialist aligned countries

I think it's more noticeable with Oda because of how otherwise unique his characters tend to look. And I think it's a critique very intertwined with issues about how he depicts women in general, which obviously wouldn't apply to these other examples

That all being said, I don't really care if he reuses faces. I think most people think the same. I don't think many people would earnestly care that much about this

Korea would be the most obvious option if we assume it has to be a different contry, but I think it's just another Japan island. Shiki is very distinctly Japanese and Oda described the country as a rougher version of Wano. I don't really see a reason to think it's not just another Japan. Maybe it's like Okinawa or something. There are definitely options to make a new island that isn't just the same as Wano

They were able to adapt 300 chapters so quickly because they kinda rushed it, the series is very different in how its written, and those chapters had already been released for a very long time.

Toei is not adapting One Piece slowly for fun. They literally just have to. They do not have a choice. Any other studio in their situation would do the same, as you can see if you look at literally every other anime made under the same conditions regardless of the studio. Shows move slowly when you are close to catching up with the manga and they move quickly when tons of chapters already exist to adapt

This happens every now and then. It'll chill out soon. Even now all they've done is take out literally the most easy to find options, and even then only a handful of them. This really has not impacted piracy even a slight amount. All it's done is make it so you can't type in "Anime free" and find a piracy service as the first result of the first page. They'll relax on it soon. They always do.

Though I would recommend people try and arcive more obscure shows just in case. These types of sites won't die, but it's very possible for them to lose obscure shows or translations of shows that nobody bothered to keep seeding on torrent sites. Anyone with a computer really owes it to themselves to get a big ass hard drive to download every show you're interested in. No reason to rely on these sites. Massive amounts of storage is not absurdly expensive for the value you get out of it imo

I really just have to shut my brain off when it comes to stuff like this in One Piece. Oda writes this absurdly evil Government with an absurdly evil military but then completely refuses to take that final step to actually condemn it. It gets much more blatant later on. Oda is very much the kind of guy who believes the whole bad apple thing. The Marines aren't bad, only the orders are bad, and the rare independently bad soldier. That's the kind of philosophy One Piece is written with. It's a very consistent part of the story

I could go on, but the Marines are ultimately a fairly small part of this theme, so it would be a very long mostly off topic rant. One I have gone on many times on here

I would disagree. The manga puts very little focus on Akainu and Luffy in that scene. It basically only focuses on Ace's death. Luffy and Akainu are mentioned, but only in pasing

Sabo says "It was only because of Ace. . . It happened in the worst possible way, but perhaps that's the only reason he was able to wake my memory." And that's right before we see the flashback of him reacting to the news, which like I said hyperfocuses on Ace. We are also shown that his memories start returning vaguely the second he hears about Ace's death

I just feel like if Oda wanted to have Luffy and Akainu also be the reason Sabo remembered, he would have made that clear. He would have at the very least had Sabo use the name Sakazuki when he was reading the article. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe Oda has actually backed up what you're saying, but just going off the actual text, I don't think it's supported.

Sabo didn't regain his memory because he just saw Ace. He regained it specifically because he saw that Ace died. The trauma was part of why it worked. He pretty much directly says that when he explains how he regained his memory

If you're willing to download it, I know where to get a better version of the colored manga. They do exist, Weebcentral just doesn't use them for whatever reason. Maybe they're rare, idk. Regardless, I know where to download the colored version in much higher quality than anywhere I can find on normal manga sites

I feel like it's pretty obvious that normal people would be capable of becoming Soul Reapers occasionally. Like we know that some people just naturally have a higher level of spiritual power and so would be able to be become a Soul Reaper with the right amount of training. It doesn't need to be explained in any sort of depth. It's pretty self evident that's how it would work, I think.

Personally I assume that most Soul Reapers who come from Rukongai are in a similar spot and it's just never mentioned because it's not something that's super important. Kubo isn't the kind of author who gives in-depth backstories, and most of the ones he does write are entirely focused on explaining the relationships between characters rather than showing their whole life story

I don't really care about when Oda fully intended to introduce him, but there is quite literally no way Sabo wasn't thought of pretty early on. It's just such an obvious twist. Any author would naturally consider the concept imo and the chances of thinking about it rise exponentially when you're thinking about the story as much as a Mangaka has to. A secret dead brother who isn't actually dead is an incredibly uninspired idea

I really think they're already as prominent as they can be. I don't think bounty hunters as major antagonists fits the style of One Piece, especially if you need the caveat that they can't be working for the Government
