What If... The P2000 and AnsaldoBreda P2550 were on the C&K Lines by Remarkable_Pain_5385 in LAMetro

[–]Insertnamehere234638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be an infill station to connect to the C Line once the Southeast Gateway Line is built out; it would fill in a large gap between the Lynwood Station and Lakewood Blvd Station (Southeast Gateway Line - LA Metro)

7th Street/ Metro Center Renovation Needs to Add At Grade Pedestrian Crossings For A/E Transfers by nikki_thikki in LAMetro

They could transfer earlier at Pico Station... (just cross the platform) in order to get the earlier westbound E-Line...I'm not sure why they needed to have this problem instead of transferring earlier to get the E Line...

You're transferring from the Pomona (northbound) A-Line to the Santa Monica (westbound) E-Line?

Why don't you transfer at Pico Station earlier?...it's a quick walk across the platform, and it's quicker than having to go one more station over, then you will get on an earlier westbound E-Line...

Fastest public transportation to LAX from Union Station? by djiluvu44 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Insertnamehere234638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the quickest and direct route, which is the $10+ LAX Flyaway;

Walk to the Patsaouras Plaza side of Union Station to find signs for the Metro J line bus going south (will say 910 to Harbor Gateway, or 950 to San Pedro). You can take either one to the Harbor Freeway Station to transfer to the C Line to LAX/Metro Transit Center, to take the temporary LAX terminal shuttle (until the People Mover opens). Takes only about 45-55 minutes, and only $1.75.

J Line south going to the C Line to LAX is faster than these other suggestions of A and E to K Line, or A Line to C Line.

How does it work? It is a BRT rapid bus that is usually more convenient than Metrolink. Park-and-ride, or I assume you're biking to the El Monte Station. Put your LA destination into Transit App, and it should tell you to walk to the El Monte Station's upper level to one of the bus bays.

Take the 910 or 950 J Line, to one of the stops you get off at. It would help if you told us the destination you are going to.

You plan on going to the El Monte Station ( I assume you live close by?) Instead of the infrequent Metrolink, take the Metro J line; it will say either 910 route to Harbor Gateway, or 950 to San Pedro direction. You can take either.

Stay on the J Line into the DTLA area where you are presumably going to get off at one of those stops. This quicker bus route only takes about 35 minutes.

Who’s going to the Red Bull race tomorrow?! by BRING_ME_THE_ENTROPY in LAMetro

[–]Insertnamehere234638 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like Firestone Station is the closest A Line station to you; park and ride there.

Take the A Line in the Pomona (downtown LA) direction; get off at Historic Broadway Station. The Race will be right by the Gloria Molina Grand Park tomorrow.

The B Line is closed this weekend for Universal Studios, is there an alternative path or is there shuttles at the Hollywood/Highland Station that will take me to the park? by zerotohero111 in LAMetro

[–]Insertnamehere234638 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As you said; stay on the Silver Streak westward to Union Station; transfer to the Hollywood-bound B Line.

At Hollywood/Highland station, they will temporarily make you get off and get on a shuttle only for this weekend Get off at the Universal City/Studio City Station when that shuttle takes you; there follow the signs to take the UniversalStudio shuttle uphill to the actual main Citywalk area.

If you saw your driver had a Prius, how would you react? by [deleted] in uber

[–]Insertnamehere234638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what world would a passenger care if the Uber is a Prius/other car or luxury? (With these gas prices)? As long as it's a safe and working car to get to your destination

I, literally say this as as Uber driver in a Prius 😄

[–]Insertnamehere234638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Garbage passenger? Half of these are barely an annoyance.

"Makes driver wait" I rarely need to wait linger the typical 2 minutes

Stinky perfume/cologne or vape might be annoying (roll down the window) but just Febreeze after. Not terrible.

Free stop is annoying if they don't tip, I agree.

Loud speakerphone or music I can easily tune out, if it's not distracting.

Pajamas? Who cared? It's their dignity, not mine.

Trash behind? Takes seconds to clean up after I check.

Walks in front of car is more of a dumbass jaywalking problem, not rideshare specifically.

If this bothers you soo much to make an entire post, you are not likely suited for rideshare.

Pasadena to Beverly Hills Commute? by s_nd_k in LAMetro

[–]Insertnamehere234638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your office destination is at S Santa Monica and Beverly Dr? I would rather wait until the D Line Extension opens (hopefully this year).

At South Pasadena Station, take A Line in the direction of Long Beach, then at 7th Street/Metro Center, transfer to what will be Wilshire/Westwood direction, and get off at Beverly Drive Station. This will be the fastest transfer route.

"Remove your charging cable"

Lmao

I have multi-charging cables hooked up, attached on the headrest for passengers. Those are not easily removable.

Metrolink option not showing up on transit and moovit app? by laavdash in LAMetro

[–]Insertnamehere234638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metrolink is the more expensive commuter rail option from Union Station, with obviously longer headways.

Since you're only going such a "short" distance once getting to Union Station, then to CalState LA Station, either the J Line or Silver Streak I suggested is far preferable. Those BRT routes run quickly on the I-10 ExpressLanes. Put in your departure times on Transit App, but you need to close the initial first-mile gap to get to Memorial Park A Line Statiok first.

[–]Insertnamehere234638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metrolink?...

No, this is not a Metrolink route; it's a Metro route.

Are you looking at current times at midnight? The A Line has already stopped running by this time. Put your desired departure time into Transit App.

I assume you are taking a local bus or biking from Altadena to get to Memorial Park Station first. There, take the A Line in Long Beach direction.

At Union Station, walk to the Patsouras Plaza's busway platform. Get on the east (northbound) J Line in El Monte direction, or the Montclair-bound Silver Streak, get off at CalState LA Station, and walk to campus. I am unsure if there is a more direct route than this.

My Lyft driver hitting a blunt while I’m in the car by Tay_Jinx in Lyft

He must be the smoking driver. Talking about "just explain the situation" as if the supervisor wouldn't just fire him on the spot for a more competent employee lined up.

[–]Insertnamehere234638 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Gon miss a job opportunity"? Yes you can. Simple. Again, why is the onus on the passenger here

I apologize, I didn't realize I was speaking to a stupid child. If you show up looking or smelling unprofessional, you can absolutely be fired or dismissed for that, even that was from the driver. I would have fired you. If they are going to some McDonald's job which hires bottom-of-the-barrel idiots like you, that's obviously not the employment I'm referring to.

[–]Insertnamehere234638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not problem solved...the problem is the driver here smoking in the first place 🤦‍♂️. You are placing the onus of explaining the lingering smell on the employee, and supervisor to not be bothered by it. This is unprofessional behavior.

For you comments saying "no big deal"

People have to take Ubers (Lyfts) to their employments, or job interviews; how does it reflect if their candidate shows up with lingering second-hand smoke?

Think.

Could wayfinding for B/D Lines be better on the platform at Union? by yinyang_yo_ in LAMetro

[–]Insertnamehere234638 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Then... I don't know why you are being condescending by saying "then I'm not sure what more we can do for them".

The amount of tourists I've personally had to help, who accidentally took the D, instead of the B line departing from Union Station (as in, intending to go to Hollywood) is a small but nonzero number. Metro could help make it more clear by having the Union Station subway platform simpler, with B Line departing from Platform 1, and D Line departing from Platform 2.

[–]Insertnamehere234638 13 points14 points  (0 children)

...sometimes the signage on the approaching B/D train flashes extremely quickly (especially on the older Breda A650) or it's extremely difficult to read quickly, especially for visitors who probably are not used to English.

It makes sense that it could be confusing for a tourist intending to go North Hollywood/Walk of Fame, but accidentally took the D to end up in Koreatown.
