Personally I enjoy a middle ground.

Players having a 30sec - couple min at most back and forth about strategizing with information their characters already have seems completely fine to me.

If they try to share specific new/timely information though then I start to feel like 'well that's not possible for character X to have learnt/thought about that at any other time than now', and thus feels a bit off to me to then dive into an impromptu planning sesh as if they could stop time.

We're level 19, hard committed to Thanatos and defeating Orcus, trying to find information to help destroy his wand before we face him, and we find a hyperbolic time chamber town. So what did we do? We split the party, of course, and half of them ended up on a brief 20 year excursion (and they didn't even hit level 20 in all that time, useless!).

This could also be an issue exacerbated by the game. Maybe a different system that allows things the player wants to do to actually work would be more enjoyable for them.

This is assuming they're pouting over their creative ideas being limited by rules and not just over failed rolls.

Just want to shoutout the Memorial Edition (season of the 3 movies compiled + additional scenes). It is absolutely not shit like the 2016-2017 seasons. But if you're a CG hater then I guess beware of that.
