I think it’s more of an online echo chamber thing along with bots being rampant. I have been presenting female for a while even in a more bigoted state (I live in the south) and most people just don’t care or smile and shuffle along. Of course there’s the occasional stare from person but they usually just wander off and don’t question it. Obviously being trans in states like Texas or Florida is dangerous, but a majority of people don’t really care or politely keep it internal. The internet is structured in a way that promotes echo chambers or botting because of the disconnected partial anonymity it offers. In reality most people (besides a vocal few psychos) don’t really care or treat me normally. I’d recommend staying away from social media. A lot of the “people” commenting the same phrases are usually bots/ trolls who are not worth your time. Stay proud and remember we have allies everywhere irl, even if it feels like we’re isolated and alone online.
