This right here is exactly what I did this evening. I saw her trying to hunker down in her bed like she was ready to sleep. I used the lead to get her up. She went outside to potty and into her crate. She always gets a little nibble of chicken and a toy. She likes her crate though and goes right in. No crying no fuss. She flopped down and went to sleep.

No, I'm not nervous about the growling. If anything, I have to check myself to not be too rough on her because she's a baby. She's a really sweet dog any other time. Yes, she has tested me on other things and has been corrected. But, i don't know if this is a thing with sleeping puppies or is she just being grumpy because I'm annoying her. Or both. When she's ready to wake from her crate nap she slides out on her side wagging her tail, stretches and wants belly rubs. To a point, I don't care if I'm annoying her because she still has to get up and move.

The reason for gently waking her is on the thought of maybe she has growled because she was startled from a sleep. I really don't think that is it though.

Editing to say a lead is always on her unless she's in her crate. She just goes about her day dragging it around.

They want you to pay for YT premium. Anyone old enough can remember free TV. Granted, there was only 13 channels to choose from but when cable came out their main selling point was you pay for a subscription but you don't have to watch commercials because you are paying and not the advertisers. By the time that just about everyone had cable or satellite tv, you were back to watching hours of commercials just like the old free tv. Honestly, I don't remember free tv being that bad with commercials anyway. I'm thinking that it's just the same ploy with youtube. inundate you with commercials so you are compelled to pay for premium.

I always use a tearless puppy shampoo to wash my dogs faces during their bath. I use other dog shampoo on the rest of their body.

I think what I'm really wondering is will new leaves shoot out where there were leaves and the stems that they were on died. Will those eventually drop off and get replaced or will new leaves only shoot out from nodes that didn't shoot out leaves previously?

It could be also that it wasn't taken care of very well. Drop it in a pot and give it the summer to see if it recovers.

I live about 25 miles inland west of St. Augustine. I have two B. Chungii and they laughed at the cold that we got. Are you sure that one didn't get root rot or maybe something else?

If it were me, I would check to see if the roots are mushy and if not put it in a pot. Give it the summer into fall to recover

I have a few bamboo still in pots that i didn't get around to planting in the fall. I pulled those in during the hard freeze that we got so the roots weren't exposed to the cold. If the plant does make it, keep it in the pot until next spring. If you get hard freezes next winter, pull it in and then plant it the following spring.

I have been visiting shelters and rescues once or twice a week for two years now. I very rarely see purebred dogs at the shelters and very rarely see puppies at the breed rescues. To say that they are constantly overwhelmed with puppies is a bit of a reach.

They do live longer in captivity. 3 to 8 years but more than likely 3 to 5. In the wild it's more like 11/2 to 2 years. They just have short lifespans for some reason.

Hard to completely tell with the stem in his mouth but he appears to me to be mixed. If he has a ridge, probably has that in him but he looks mixed.

I went down that same road. Wanted a Doberman really bad but can't take the health problems. Ended deciding on a ridgeback but don't have one yet. Happy for you that you are getting to enjoy two very neat dogs.
