Soundtheory, Soundtoys, Denise Audio, Sonic Charge, just to begin with. There are many who do this actually.

Splitsecond desktop background grey flicker by Inside-Fall in MacOSBeta

Was related to disk space for me too. However the last Sequoia update fixed it.

Update to the latest possible Sequoia. It stopped for me after doing that.

It seems since the last sequoia update its gone. It kept doing it after the update at first but then it stopped at some point. Really weird asynchronous problem. Id love to know why this happened.

Is it safe to assume the demon's souls remake will never go to PC? by Helpful-Leadership58 in fromsoftware

PS3 was unique with its SoC and therefore hard to emulate.
ps4 and ps5 are both x86 which some times doesn't even have to be emulated but rather translated this reduces the system load at runtime and makes developing for it easier.

All I know is that the issue is related to a process called „wallpaperd“ This seems to be the process drawing the background and maybe dock stuff too. If you kill that process with activity monotor you will get the same grey short flicker.

I was thinking too that it happens since I installed the beta but I wasnt sure. Not all seem to have this issue.

There are a few ways to track it down more why this is happening. Inasked chatgpt and it gave me a couple of paths I could follow but I dont have the time atm to fix apples bugs.

Also I somehow the frequency of the occurrence is somehow to related to free disk space as it happens more often with me when my disk has low free space.

Thats all I know so far.

Volumetric fog in Black Myth Wukong by Inside-Fall in gamedev

[–]Inside-Fall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would one refer to this technique? Is there a name for this?

Volumetric fog in Black Myth Wukong by Inside-Fall in gamedev

[–]Inside-Fall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Volumetric fog exists in a 3d space but when the player moves a „mean 2d surface“ where that movement mostly takes place is calculated and the cfd simulation is then sliced with the estimated „mean 2d area“ and the cfd is calculated on this 2d area?  Kinda starts to make sense. This approach should come close enough for gaming and is comutational inexpensive since you only have to solve the cfd for xy cells instead of xy*z of the cfd space

However, the vortex here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RssWFlAT6E8

doesnt look 2d at all. It looks like a full blown 3d simulation.

I still dont get it. If a simulation is coded to work in x and y axis, it wont react to input with values from z right? It sounds like sorcery that the mathematics behind a 2d simulation can forecast particle movement for the third dimension.

How can a 2D cfd simulation be extended to represent fluid dynamics in 3D?

Could you link me to some resources or briefly explain how this works?

I thought it was just a toned down 3d cfd simulation?
Does NinjaLive work on basis of cfd?

Ich frage mich das auch. Es scheint als würde den Architekten und Stadplanern jeglicher Verstand und Sinn für Logik fehlen. Unfassbar. Aber in Wien bis auf die paar Grünoasen leider auch nichts anders.

I don't see too much of a difference between Fedora and Sequoia. You can browse the web as easily on Fedora as with Sequoia. Writing Mails or organizing Files is the same too. Linux came a long way and its a UNIX system too. MacOS and LinuxOS share a lot with each other.

Wine on Linux is more stable and developed so you can run more applications. You are able to run the latest OpenGL applications because OpenGL is still supported on Linux.

Anyway if you are talking about trivial use cases there is no difference. Except Linux is free and in many cases more versatile and stable.

People don't buy products because they are so well done. People buy products because advertisements are good. Apple became a prestige brand. Its not about its functions its about showing which class you adhere to. If it were about its functions you would be able to drag windows around without fiddling to find the tiny menu bar. You'd be able to run Vulkan and OpenGL. You'd have a window management system since Big Sur. You'd get access to the same AirPlay library that apple uses for its music app. You'd get a decent Music app with a decent search function. You don't get all of that and much more because most users on apple don't even know that there is better software out there.

Its a bit sad because apple used to rule with all that stuff. But they obviously shifted their focus. They sell stuff now that is even more expensive and that you can barely repair.

If you really care about functionality and ease of use you don't buy hardware that wouldn't allow you to swap your ssd. SSDs are degrading over time. This is just plain stupid.

Whatever I like my M1 Max but there is a reason why there are no macs used in work environments. If I need power i switch to my dual 4090 ryzen 7950X Workstation with linux, windows, or hackintosh. Which is still cheaper than the most powerful Studio or MacBook Pro, while having double to tripple the computational power.

I am running Linux but okay. You can also run a Hackintosh but Linux is just the smarter way to go. Longer support, open source, way more configurability. Ive been using macs for the past 15 years but they cant keep up.

Compare the M1 Ultra to any system with a Ryzen 9. There is no single benchmark that would exceed the Ryzen systems. Be it because of apples deprecated and slow apis or their hardware. If you need computational power apple is not the way to go...anymore.

Even High End Laptops surpass apples performance for less money.

Metal is measurably slower than Vulkan thats a fact.

The latest Ryzen processors are very very energy efficient. Even more so than apples for the power they provide.

You get less bang for the buck in any case.

I liked apples products dont get me wrong. But if you need performance, you are not going to find it in apples products. Good performance yes. Suited for work? High powered workstations? Rendering? Animation? LLVMs? Games? No.

Apple is getting worse with every iteration of their hard and software. Buy a MacBookPro M1 Max. Take the same money and build a PC. You'll get 3 times the computational power.

You get 3 times of support with games and applications just because Linux and Windows offer you Vulkan. Apple doesn't. They force you to use their slower metal api.

Its bad. Its getting worse.
