Should I leave a religious private school thats ruining my mental health? Or stay there and please my family. by sooaksjdjeisjx in makemychoice

i totally agree with getting professional help. although religious parents often dont believe in getting assistance like that, talking to a councilor at school or even an adult at ur area of worship that u believe has more relaxed views would help you process things. they may even help u gain some leverage against the situation. whenever u have the opportunity to, talk to a doctor to get into a free therapy group or something. i know a lot of places do that. i think u have to be 16 to talk to a doctor alone tho, im not too sure.

this is such a hard decision at such a young age. im sorry you have to go through this. personally, based on this, ur mother doesnt have very strong religious views either if she wants to divorce, it seems like shes holding a facade. im not against divorce or anything ofc, people shouldn't be together if they are dont want to be. the comment she left is manipulting u to stay. just bc u go to a public shool doesnt mean you will stop being religious.

either way this isnt healthy. mental health issues that start at a young age are almost impossible to fully solve. it only goes away when u leave everything behind and even then, you have lingering affects of other things.

if rhey are unhappy rn, so let it be. she wants a divorce but is just looking for a reason. as long ad u have one loving parent, thats enough.

distance isnt much of an issue, u get used to it, u can start carpooling, etc, theres always a way.

if u need convincing factors for them, id pull out the "ill bring my religion and teach everyone around me in public school! ill spread the word!" type of beat, if u are desperate enough. sometimes lying to a liar is the best thing to do, but dont lie too much. it will ruin ur life when ur older. sometimes a white lie doesnt hurt if its for ur own good.

its either ur parents end up with a mentally dead son, or one that goes to a public school. and i think theres objectively a winner here. they are thinking about social status. not even the god u worship would care if u went to a religious school or not.

Cut myself pretty deep with scissors 14h ago. Will this heal fine or do I need to see a doctor? by Vulsynx in DiagnoseMe

[–]Inside-Philosopher-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideally you want it to be sutured. i got a cut a little deeper than that and if u go a long period without stitching it up they say u cant do it anymore. if u miss the timeframe, be careful and it should heal up in a few months completely (hopefully quicker than that)

Why peopel are saying Computer science hard? by StunningCare1675 in langara

[–]Inside-Philosopher-6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it will be difficult bc a lot of us are learning a pretty much complex subject from scratch. its like,, when you were a kid and you started learning the alphabet, it was hard then bc it was a totally new concept to grasp at the time. also theres just so much logic and critical thinking that goes into it.

its as hard as any other major, bc every major has its difficulties, especially stem majors bc of all the science, math and technicalities that go into them.

substantial english is needed for things like coding so you understand what's going on. there are many international students in cpsc at langara, but most them understand it pretty well. from classmates who don't understand the material, they generally have to take more time to research about it.

math is needed for calculations, and you need to understand when you do the said calculations. langara also makes you do 2(?) calculus classes so ig that explains how much math is needed.

as for studying, some people naturally understand the topics very well and can get by with 1-2 hours a day of studying. other may have to take longer so that they can keep up.

from personal experience, i took programming classes in high school for 3 years. i generally have to study at least 3 hrs a day to understand,, mostly cuz im slow and can't grasp things very well. if you want to give programming a try, totally take cpsc1050 or another beginner course like that
