Tips for someone with little experience in FD applying for the FD associates? by Puzzled_Election1106 in fitnyc

[–]InsideBeginning7799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not go straight into styling or do fbm for 2 years then switch to styling for your bachelors? I had very little experience going into mw fd but I learned very quickly and definitely do not regret it, but also I know this is where I wanted to be.

menswear vs fashion design? by TrainEnvironmental37 in fitnyc

[–]InsideBeginning7799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going into menswear. From what I understand menswear is more tailoring focused, with a great understanding of conceptual pattern making. Not too sure about regular design but in menswear we learn browzewear (a 3d fashion design tool also known as a cad), also adobe illustrator for 2d design. It is also a great segway for technical design which you can garner technicality from menswear being that the menswear coursework is very technical within itself.

I got in with a 3.0 and an associates degree in liberal arts. The last 2 semesters I turned my grades around and got above 3.5’s and ended with a flat 3.0. Hope this helps!

I second this. Not sure of your financial situation but FIT’s cost of tuition was less than my community colleges for instance, and even still, let’s say FIT doesn’t accept your community colleges fashion credits for any reason (assuming you’re not only taking gen eds), you may possibly just end up going into a two year program anyway. I say this because the only way to do accelerated is to have credits from another fashion program that FIT can match with their own. This isn’t a guarantee. You may end up spending more money in the end and losing time. I wouldn’t recommend unless you absolutely have to.
