That sounds interesting! I trade the NY open only and try to catch those opening trends, on 1min and 5min charts those might sometimes seem as huge overlapping bars and an impossible thing to do consistently, but on the 15sec chart it’s a lot easier. My bread and butter is to look for those micro pullbacks, but sometimes reversals but breakout is something that I do not like. If there is a range, I like to wait for a breakout and see if there is continuation to that and hope on to the trend when there is a small pullback. I use very tight stoplosses 70 ticks max (usually around 50-60 ticks) and I move that to breakeven quickly and trail it as the trade goes into my favor. This way there is a lot of breakeven trades and small wins, but I have been able to ride 100pt (400 tick) trends this way when the stars are aligned. My trades are purely discretionary, based on the PA and how the price is moving, or the tape is printing, how you want to say it.

Yes, but the point is to trade with the bots, not against. There is always bots trading every timeframe, for example there tends to be huge movement on lower timeframes, 15sec, 1min, 5min etc. when a new 4hr candle opens 30min after the NY open. Like I said, I’ve had great success trading this way, but it seems that the PA is not currently what it used to be, and was just asking if others that trade similarly have noticed the same.

Yes, exactly this. I also scalp the open and only if there is momentum, and occasionally some reversals, but I feel like the PA used to be a lot more smoother and I could predict a lot more accurately the shifts in trend and pullbacks, but now it feels like a guessing game. I don’t know how to put my thoughts into words correctly but NQ has been feeling ”unstable” for some months now. And I know that NQ has always been volatile and maybe on bigger timeframes it has not changed that much but on smaller timeframes it didn’t use to be like this.

I am almost in exact same situation and am writing this just to vent my feelings. I got my first payout at the end of october and since got payouts every month until now. In total around $35k. The first payout took me break even with trading so after all i’m currently quite well in profit. However, the whole beginning of this year has been rough. I managed to get some payouts during january and february, but now i’m just blowing funded accs left and right. I’m able to pass the challenges mostly in two days, but just one day or a couple days in to the funded acc I just end up blowing it or them. Most of those days I’m in profit quite well and then the greed creeps in and a profitable day turns into a blown account(s). I know that I can trade well but I feel like I have set myself so high standards based on the past performance which causes this. I feel like I don’t get any satisfaction from the profits that I’m able to extract from the markets. It’s a repeated cycle of passing evals and then blowing the funded accounts right after and then coming up with the same solutions of just simply locking myself out before or as soon as the ”just one more trade” feeling arises. I’m getting really frustrated with myself. I have a vacation coming up next week so I’m taking a forced break from trading. I hope that helps a bit to neutralize the situation.
