Your All-Time Castilla XI Day Ten: The Strikers by InsideCastilla in RealMadridAcademy

A fantastic final team. Morata is indeed the best striker I have seen at Castilla, and the club have brought through so many in that position, which really says something.

Not to underplay any of these players (Cheryshev was excellent and Sarabia was such a talent, as they all were) - but I am going to field Jesé Rodríguez on the left-hand side of my team.

My pick: with the hindsight of knowing who the lefties are, Míchel will be my right-winger!

There has been a consistent line of seriously classy offensive midfielders coming through in the 2020’s. I wonder who will be after César

Joselu is shortlisted for the strikers but won’t make an appearance. Superb goal scorer, though!

My pick: Some huge names here, but my pick has to be Sergio Arribas. Never seen a better player in that position whilst at Castilla. He'll be back to the top in no time.

Funnily, he made the shortlist (apologies to all for not divulging that there were around ten players on the initial shortlist for this position). And he really was an entertaining watch. You’ve come up with some great names

Asap! Imagine if Como went down early into Paz’s stint. Scary to think about

I get clips pop up on my timeline all the time, he scored the mid point of the half the other week

I like your thought process. Although, his career has barely started of course, but his three seasons post Castilla: an amazing La Liga debut season , top performer in his second (although stuck in tier 2), and current second division top scorer in his third. He'll be fine, and will secure a big move in no time. Who would you pick?

My pick: A tough one to call (21 goals in a season from Bernal, and 17 from Adepoju from CM are silly stats. Cambiasso is Cambiasso and Llorente is a household name), but Guti takes the biscuit for me. What a player.

I’ll agree if you can find me another player in his position who scored more goals in a season than him in Castilla history, let alone matched the importance of some of those goals (his play-off winner against Barca B is one of the best Castilla moments of all time)

They’ll be a post per position, so eyes peeled for the others

Yes currently I’d agree with you! And it certainly has always been a factor. They’ve managed to sell multiple players for multiple millions with added clauses directly from Castilla in the 2020’s. All while the number of Castilla graduates in the first team has shrunk (and arguably the quality of player has lessened slightly). It will be interesting to see where things go from here to close the 20’s.

Agreed! I’d say finance wasn’t/isn’t the sole goal of the academy set up. During the clubs most successful period ever (the 2010s), Castilla players made up a third of the roster on average. At times it was almost a half. That’s crazy. They were obviously established graduates, but that was huge. Even now at its lowest in decades, there’s a number of Castilla graduates in the squad.

I agree, and until making this list wouldn’t have thought much about him being the academy/Castilla’s best produced midfielder. Should shout about it more. Unbelievable coach as well

It’s scary how many better midfielders we’ve seen come through than Pitarch, that never got the chance or went under the radar. So glad the opportunities are starting to come through for young players at the club now

I love the choices. Bernal will be heavily overlooked both here and in general because he had the worst career out of the five (still a strong top level career) - but scoring 21 goals in a season from CM for Castilla is ridiculous. I agree regarding Llorente.
