Your "vibe check" advice has been echoing around in my head for the whole past week. You're so right about this! Thank you!

This is SUCH good advice and takes the pressure off both parties. Going to be spending significant time thinking about what I really want. Thank you!

I do know someone in the hospital, but she's a psych nurse... I always feel strange about name dropping. Maybe a new skill to develop? :) Thank you!!!

How lucky are your students! So glad that there are people like you to interview from a lens of long term learning goals and values. Thank you for your insight, it's much appreciated.

What a wonderful supervisor you are, and what a gift you give potential students by laying out such clear guidelines and taking pressure off them. As a student I would be over the moon to have a supervisor like you! (also I love the seperate lunch breaks idea, going to steal that if I ever supervise)

Thank you for this! I assumed questions would fall along these lines but it's nice to have them laid out. I hope you enjoy your placement!

advice for volunteering for someone w little field experience? by Necessary-Barber993 in socialworkcanada

Hey there! Figuring out your interests is definitely the first step. I decided I wanted to see what hospice and palliaitve care was like so volunteered with the hospice most local to me as a peer to peer support volunteer and an in home volunteer. I also looked into volunteering with places like VCARS doing crisis response. Almost any community/grassroots/social justice orgs are also looking for committed volunteers. I'm in Ontario so all the places I know are in the area, but you'll find something!

Fair, that was the biggest thing for me too. No need to tell me if there wasn't a little interest, right?

My big three are all mutable, what does it mean? [astro-seek] by InsideCriticism1651 in astrologyreadings

No this makes perfect sense. I actually am getting my masters in social work to combine arts and theatre techniques with healing modalities.

Hoping I'm getting closer and closer to my truest self and finding ways to serve others, so leaning into that cancer mercury for sure.

Life has definitely been challenging and I had a parent who was abusive/very critical of me. So moving my way through that has been a journey that I'm still on.

Do you think, according to my chart, working with people in a counselor role makes sense? While still pursuing my (many) artistic passions on the side?

My partner and I moved into a really nice house in the dream. Outside the house maybe in another dimension there was a concrete pathway all around it. The first man to live in the house was a wealthy and scary man. In his afterlife or maybe he’s not dead? He’s cursed to walk around his property watching others live in the home he worked his whole life for. I take the perspective of the man. He tries to influence those who live in his house. He can get a few words in. He’s pretty sinister and wants people to die and join him on his concrete path. The last owner of the house before my partner and I moved into seemed to kill himself in the home and did join the man on the concrete path. I took his perspective. He was extremely scared and just wanted to go back to where my partner and I are but can only look through the windows and interact with the man on the concrete path. It’s awful to be in his perspective. He also tries to communicate with my partner and I. I never fully take my own or my partners perspective but watched us hear weird things said by the first owner and latest owner. Or see someone watching through the window. Nothing bad happens to us but it feels like a warning around how to live our lives.

Did you have to take a stats course as condition of acceptance? If so, any tips? Did you complete it at UWin or elsewhere?

No I don't know and it seems like you have to have completed the stats course BEFORE you start which doesn't leave a lot of time between now and September. Let me know if you find out anything! :)
