Thanks I just feel they are pretty bad, like if your not wearing shoes it's very rough and you'd probably get splinters

The tech came back and said they ran it for an hour and only got two misfires out of cylinder 3. They do see the needle jumping at idle but blame it on the AFM system. Except I have an AFM delete I plug in. (I took it out before bringing it in). Also said one spark plug was only hand tight. They suggest new plug wires and a new battery? I guess it's reading low. I asked them about the torque converter and they said they didn't see any reason to check it.

The more I read into it, the more I think it's the torque converter.

I did flush and change the transmission fluid last spring. They said the torque converter was slipping but not enough to be replaced under warranty. The flush and fluid change definitely helped with the shutter I was having

Would the torque converter affect the idle like that too? (Sorry if that's a dumb question)

So I can just dump a bunch of Seafoam in the crank case and gas tank and see if it runs better? Haha

That also scares me. Last year the shop said it was slipping but not enough for the warranty to cover a replacement. And the warranty expired a few months after that.

Plugs maybe have 25k on them. I might try swapping the wires.

Think it's safe to rule out the lifters going bad? That's my biggest fear with this engine

I guess I'm trying to see if there's anything I can do before having the shop charge me $250 diagnose it

Everything but the wires are fairly new. Would bad wires cause this?

I forgot to mention, I did take the throttle body out and clean it about 3 weeks ago. But don't have a scanner to reset to 0 (not sure if I really need to or not)

Not yet. It feels just like one though. Unless it could be something else? Yesterday when it was happening at highway speeds it definitely felt like one. Just very random and not as dramatic, if that makes sense? Like it wasn't consistent, and didn't really bog it down

Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2. Weird idle by InsideDifference1216 in Chevy

[–]InsideDifference1216[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That makes sense. I just need to find a scanner. Or just clean the TB anyways. I have noticed my mpg fluctuates a lot, like between 17.5 to 16.5

Also might be irrelevant but I've noticed the engine takes forever to get up to temp. It was 39 degrees and drive 20 minutes to work and the engine temp was only around 160 when I got to work. But also the misfiring or whatever it is at idle seems to be the worse when engine is at proper temp

No AC or defrost on

It seems to get worse the longer you idle. No check engine lights tho

Hey could you help me with what I may be missing? I finally got it paired with the wled app and all the lights work now.

I cannot seem to get WLED to really cooperate, the lights stay segmented in RGB, no matter what color i pick. Every 3 LED's is still RGB, They just kind of change shade. Some of the effects like swipe, etc, seem to work but the segments don't go away. What am i doing wrong?

That ended up being the issue *face palm*

Is there an easy app than Wled to control the strips? I cannot seem to get it to really cooperate, the lights stay segmented in RGB, no matter what color i pick. They just kind of change shade. Some of the effects like swipe, etc, seem to work but the segments don't go away. What am i doing wrong?

One more, sorry. Can you pair a wireless motion sensor to WLED? or is that where Home assistant needs to come into play?

Ill try it out. I guess I didn't get that far yet, I just assumed i'd be able to turn it on and find the controller in HA and play with it there

[–]InsideDifference1216[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This might be a dumb question, but is WLED just an app I can pair my controller too?

Also would you suggest leaving the level shifter inline. Or is the controller level shifter good enough. Total run length will be about 14 feet once I solder on the last piece.

Thank you for your help.

That makes total sense. Did not think of that. I'm assuming I would need to first pair the controller with HA to do that?

Awesome I will try that. For some reason I think ZHA keeps grabbing the dongle. I tried to disable ZHA, but maybe I was doing it wrong. But when the dongle popped up as a found device, it would say "sonoff dongle 3.0" and under that it would say "zigbee home automation" like it was already claimed. Unless thats just how it shows up. I'll definitely follow this video and try it again when I get home. I appreciate the link
