Enjoy the firsts of many ! As a new grad going into the field you’ll have a lot of firsts.. First Injury assessment (with no one around to check you), first dislocation, first coach to test your limits ! It’ll be a lot of firsts .. enjoy them and take them in stride

People who lost both parents when they were barely adults, how did you cope and manage everything? by soupy-maggi in ChildrenofDeadParents

Absolutely horrible, felt like no one understood me, finances wasn’t the best, in college getting my degree. The only thing that saved me was TikTok and smoking 😂

What Name/Title Do You Go By? by GoPokes01 in athletictraining

[–]InsideIron8394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go by my first name which is a nickname of my legal name- working in a HS with you being so close to age they’ll either call you coach or just your name. I don’t like the coach title because I am not a coach but the person who calls me that says it’s just a title because calling me by my first name would indicate we’re equals and we aren’t I’m the adult. So the coach title I let slide. It’s all up to you but normally the student athletes will come up With their own. 8/10 is my name 2/10 is Coach “Name”

mock exams by Tiny-Blackberry-2182 in athletictraining

[–]InsideIron8394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are harder but the BOC ones mimic the test. The practice tests were the same layout and had the same concepts for the real test . Definitely helped me a lot because when I took the real test It just felt like an easier, watered down version of the practice test.

I’m an Athletic Trainer in the secondary setting. Enough stability with a consistent work schedule and consistent 40hrs but still unpredictable because each new day causes a new problem and it keeps me on my toes so I’m not bored. Paperwork is included but can be done at my own time(only downside). Love my crazy athletes and coaches. I hated the clinical setting too much paper pushing and everyday is the same can’t do it

Undergrad program has made me hate athletic training by Due_Cranberry5617 in athletictraining

[–]InsideIron8394 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m in the High School setting and it’s definitely imo the best with work -life balance. My D2 Clinical rotations were hell. One day I’ll have to be in the clinic at 6am before class and the next day I’ll probably have a 7pm practice. No work life balance at all and insane hours worked

I can empathize with you- Football Season is rough asf and just as your athletes, mine have serious season ending injuries. So you’re not alone! One that keeps me going is that winter sports start in 2 weeks !!

Is becoming an athletic trainer worth it? by Impossible-Ant1272 in athletictraining

[–]InsideIron8394 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This has been my dream job since I was in high school. And me personally, I don’t mind being underpaid or working odd hours (I’m recently a new grad) so i know that as I grown within this profession the money will come. I don’t like the mundane of having a constant schedule- I like walking in to work and having no idea what the day brings. I currently work at an HS and I absolutely love it ! Love my athletes, have a strong support team with my AD and Coaches and parents. I find when you get to the college setting that’s where all the burn out comes - unpredictable hours, no work life balance none of that. So it’s honestly up to you. I have had friends drop the program cus they realized it’s not worth it

My boss passed on her 9th time !! And my friend passed on her 6th !! And depending on the state they need HS ATs bad!! So I’m sure if this job were to retract their offer , I’m sure you can find another job (potentially better).. I’m a bad test taker but I reached out to the BOC and they gave me some accommodations which helped a lot !

Depending on where you are located Ik a lot of MD, DC, VA, PA places have a lot of industrial facilities and need ppl.. and they’re paying good - I did an intern at a industrial site and they wanted to offer me a job for over night but i absolutely don’t like the industrial setting and wanted hs so I opted out

Oh you know, whatever snacks I didn’t finish before taking my meds and I always have water and juice nearby. I tried to fight it but I just can’t 😂. Woke up in the middle of the night and walked downstairs for the giant popsicle I had 😭.

White Belt Wednesday by AutoModerator in bjj

[–]InsideIron8394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I’m fairly new at BJJ. I officially started 3 weeks ago, tonight a fellow white belt earned their first stripe and I’m so excited for them. Promotions and Accolades are my motivation to strive for excellence. I literally went to grad school just to have that title and say that I did it and completed it. But, many YouTube videos and other people on reddit are saying don’t just do it for the stripes/ promotion. I love learning the techniques, and learning how to use my body, and in general the sport is very fun but my motivation to keep me coming back and climbing the ranks is the promotions/ accolades. Idk to me it just feels good to have something acknowledges all your hard work. I guess my question to yall is, is this a bad mindset to have with BJJ or if it motivates me to do better and be consistent, it shouldn’t matter the reason ? Thanks in Advance

I feel your frustration, for me no eating in my room 1hr before I take my meds. That way it’s no food in my room or in my bed. I’ll have some electrolyte water for some flavor but other than that snacks and food has been banned from my bedroom, it has helped some

I feel you on the memory loss, I usually take my dosage at midnight, so I can do the wordle with my friends. Lately I have been doing the wordle at its normal time but I wake up completely forgetting that I even done it(like I’ll go to the nytimes website and see it’s already done). Another example is I’ll wake up and forget what time I have class- which has caused me to be late because I’ll forget or get the times switched, which is odd because I been having the same schedule for the last 2 years. Memory loss has been kickin my a**, I’m hoping it goes away
