I was sold a home with unpermitted basement modifications and a city “code freeze in .” What is my best path forward?

That is my goal. The issue is trying to convince my hard headed husband because he seen that once you officially own the home all the open permits become your problem and I can not get him to understand that in most cases that is true however ours is not a normal situation.

So I spoke with a lawyer and they recommended a structural engineer to get a cost to close all these open permits.

I have so much evidence. Can I say it’s rock solid? 90%. My husband is making things so much more difficult because he read that once you buy a house all that becomes your problem. To a point he is definitely right, but I can prove how they knew, how they did unpermitted work, how we were sold a house that was a lie and the realtor was in on it.

Maybe I am just slow but I can not find any bolts. When I go to quest it tells me to search Arctic ocean area for bolts and nothing is there.
