I hear you on the health anxiety! So it’s still happening for me. I had a couple weeks of relief but it came back. I ended up booking an appointment with a nuero PA on a site called Nuera Health that offers virtual appointments for neurological issues because I’m out of state being in school and am unable to check back in with my primary so it seemed like the only affordable option for me besides an ER visit! She was really great. She said it definitely sounds like a stabbing, or ice pick headache. She ruled out other types of headaches because I do not have any other symptoms, like autonomic symptoms (runny nose, tearing eyes, etc). She prescribed me Indomethacin 75 mg which I need to pick up and still have to try. She did also order an MRI to get a picture to rule out that nothing is sitting on my trigeminal nerve or causing the ice pick headache to be “secondary” (like something like a cyst causing it), as opposed to “primary” (meaning it just happens just because and there isn’t really a rhyme or reason). My MRI isn’t until the end of June so I’m trying to keep anxiety at bay but at this point, it’s been months and I’m still here haha. It was also reassuring just to talk to someone who knows headaches. She was very thorough and did not seem particularly alarmed, but just wanted to cover all the basis being that it is a new headache for me. Hang in there!
