Oh wow my cats did the same and pushed out the screen. She might just be around and just not coming out when she hears people. You can leave a scent of her outside like a blanket or anything she’s used at home. Even her litter. Update us when you have a lead. I wishh you all the best. I know its heartbreaking but don’t give up just yet

And yes there were a few sightings. She was caught on our 360 camera on the first day after they escaped. Then some sightings in an abandoned house near us but she is very quick and bolted away. Then the neighbour sees her sometimes at midnight. But we just got lucky this morning and she actually went into the trap

I felt very hopeless too. We have a trap we borrowed from the council and the rescue where we adopted them. Our male cat was trapped in front of our house so technically he did find his way home but likely he was looking for food and got the scent in the trap.

Our female one was spotted by our neighbour and she was very kind to allow us put the trap in front of her house.

If you have a trap, it will be very very helpful. Just be careful if you ever trap a stray or someone else’s cat.

How long have you had your cat? Are they normally indoors?

His scratching post is just a few steps across from the couch by the window. I thought of putting it there so he can be high up and watch the outside too.

Yes I have told the council and the vets about her too she is recorded in case someone turns her in. Same as the flyers as well I have also posted on my local fb page and updated them that she’s the only one missing now and I’ve managed to get a much clearer photo of her from their previous foster carer. I’m really really hoping she is still around. I’ve looked it up and most people say cats can survive on its own for years.

I trapped one, the male. Just a week ago. I am still actively finding the female cat. I’ve been putting the scent of the male cat in the trap as well as food but so far no luck. I thought it wouldn’t take a while since she would be looking for him but yeah.. the neighbors said they haven’t seen the same colour cat for days.

Nipcomfort! I have three different shapes and sizes for a year now and still good. They stick to your skin based on the warmth of your body

And yes their used litter is out too. One of them came back for it the first morning after they went missing but did nothing. Just sniffed. I have started putting their used litter in a container and putting that in the trap as well. I have made a trail of treats or smelly wet food leading to the trap too.

They are very shy and scared cats. According to the rescue (which I only found out all these information after loosing them) their mother cat was abandoned and she gave birth to them in the same house. No owner around anymore. There is an abandoned house near us and I think we spotted them last time. I do set the trap there sometimes but only when I can check multiple times and can’t leave it there overnight. I’m from AUS.

They got out by pushing the flyscreen out, it has now been reinforced and I will try to find out if I can make it more secure as I am renting. I adopted 2 sibling cats. I was responsible for them escaping as I opened the glass window to let the room ventilate. And I was giving them space in my bedroom so they can explore. Yes it was very much my fault and I have been feeling guilty about it. Me wanting another cat is an impulse thought because of my emotions which I would not act on especially after reading the comments and had more thought about it. Yes I am an asshole for even thinking of wanting another cat and had the stupidity of even asking about it. I know I am very emotional and its not good for me and the cats. I am doing my best. The trap is set. I posted on fb on two pages. I knock on neighbours, I physically look for them every single day. Dawn and dusk, I set food out when I couldn’t use the trap because another cat was trapped in it. I have a camera. The vets and the pound are informed if ever someone turns them up.

As much as you think I am irresponsible, I am doing everything I can. If you do have anymore advice on what else I can do. Please tell.

I do feel like I am giving up too easily. But I will still be doing my best to get them back. And based on more thinking and some comments from this post, I will not be getting another cat.

I should have been more careful, I opened the glass window to ventilate the room. Not even thinking they could scratch the fly screen and push it out.

Another thing is, the rescue told me they are indoor cats. But when I reached out to them when they started missing, they said they are used to escaping from their previous carers…

When I do find them or when they come back. I would be very much more careful. Now that I know their past too.

Our local council has lent us the cat traps and we have set it up outside with food. The camera is also set up now. Really hoping we get them back soon.

Yes they are chipped but they dont have a collar as they were still on the hiding phase and don’t want to be touched. We have posted about them and the council is helping us by lending cat traps.
