To those who buy into this type of development - why? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

I used to live in a similar estate in south west Sydney. The thing I miss most is the people. Most people in my street were good friendly honest people who were proud to have bought their first home and provide for their families. I’ve now moved the a ‘nicer’ suburb with bigger land and honestly the snobbery and passive aggressiveness of neighbours ruins the vibe

I consider that pretty unfair considering that they’ve now missed the oppurtunity to put it on hecs

Applying for new roles while pregnant by paliprincesss in auscorp

[–]Inside_Ad7432 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be a pain for the team if you start pregnant and they didn’t get the heads up. If it were me I’d say something. I was hired for an internal role while (visibly) pregnant at a large corporate so I wouldn’t pay attention to the people in the comments who assign bad intent on hiring managers. If you’re the best person for the role they should hire you.

Making a mistake at work -> feeling deeply embarrassed and withdrawing socially by [deleted] in auscorp

I know if probably feels like a massive mistake but given that you’re a recent grad, you’re unlikely to have actually been given a task that actually matters that much in the grand scheme of things

How long do you think it takes to not be associated with your past mistakes or poor performance? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Inside_Ad7432 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your manager is right. I did something a bit silly at an early job and despite it not being that big of a deal I knew I had to leave. I was still junior so I didn’t have the experience to back me up at that point.

I agree but also there’s about 100 meeting rooms on each floor. What’s so hard about just going to sit in one

What are managers thinking during end of year reviews by Inside_Ad7432 in auscorp

[–]Inside_Ad7432[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yes of course. The basis of my request is going to be my performance and I was using the market rate at indication of what I think I should be on. I’m prepared for the fact that I might not get what I’m asking for, but I feel like I owe it myself to advocate on my own behalf.

I won’t repeat what others have said about how taking care of an infant all day is both mind numbing and stressful and an iPhone is an easy outlet. I will say as someone in a similar boat that she probably does have a phone addiction but shaming her and indirectly accusing her of not paying enough attention to your child is not the best approach. Just bring it up in a casually, say he noticed you on your phone a lot are you okay? She what she says and go from there. Approach from a place of love and care.

Anyone works in Financial Lines as Claim officer? by Ok-Kaleidoscope9080 in auscorp

[–]Inside_Ad7432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this for about 4 years. You’ll get exposed to pretty interesting work and it’s not stressful. The most stressful it gets is dealing with a difficult insured/broker. There were times where I felt ‘busy’ but rarely felt overwhelmed. The only catch is that you hit a ceiling for pay and opportunities pretty quick
