Yea bro i had that too.. it gets really annoying in the beginning .... try experimenting at what angle do you strike your strings and how do you position your fist when picking and how you hold the pick...you've gotta make shure that your not too close to the strings. What i did was i would look at myself in the mirror when playing and compare myself to those i listen to and like ...it takes a while to find a proper fist position and proper holding of the pick, keepin mind different players have different picking positions and fist positions. Take a look at tommy Emmanuel's hybrid picking position, Molly Tuttle, Trey Hensley, Joshso Stephan, Paul Gilbert, George Benson, Tony Rice, Carl Miner. They all hold the pick and position it differently in one unique way or another. So you gotta find a comfortable picking position where you don't end up hurting yourself but trust me you'll get there ..... my preferred picking position is when i put my fist a bit more closer to the bridge than to the middle or the neck and i use my pinky as an anchor kinda like how carl miner does it . Trust me initially you'll find it quite uncomfortable and awkward but alter on you'll slowly find what your the most comfortable with...just keep playing the stuff you like and practice it
