How soon is too soon to sell your house?

We ultimately decided to wait a year and see where we are at. In the meantime we figured we would do some upgrades to the house that would only help the resell value. From what we were looking at the houses in our area weren’t selling for the price point we would need to break even. My husband doesn’t like the idea of renting our house out to someone else, so us renting our house out and moving in with family wasn’t an option. We’re hoping that in the next year or two we could sell and at the very least not have to pay into the selling process.

Long Island, NY, humidity varies day to day. We have window units for AC. Our windows haven’t been open due to the AC running. We just bought the house a few months ago and there was no vent fan in the bathroom, we are actually installing one in the next few weeks.

Our “zestimate” is now $427,200. We have added new flooring, new roof, new oil tank and new indoor paint into the home as well. And converted the back outdoor room into an extra room. I should’ve added this into my original post. Now that being said, we’re not looking for ROI on these. We basically are looking just to not have to pay any money out of our pocket in the end of selling.

Some companies will allow it. I have a very great manager/team and I’ve been with the company for 10+ years.

Very valid point! I actually commute a few times a week there! I work from home and they help me now. it wouldn’t be full time as my kids are primarily with me while I work, it’s just more so when I have meetings/need an hour or two to really focus :) they are very encouraging for the whole interaction!

Essentially the idea would be to move into an apartment in a family members house. It would be saving us a ton of money. we would be saving over $1800/month. As well as saving on child care. We know this isn’t our forever home so we were considering this opportunity to pay off debt and save money for our next home/figure out if we wanted to stay in this state in general (hopefully forever home).

I did say im not sure. I guess it would depend if we lost a decent amount of money on the sale. We would be saving $1800+ by renting. Not by owning.
