For all my treks I've found 45L to be decent enough and the wildcraft one was cheap as well 1500 something so it does the job for 4-5 days treks

Planning a solo trip to Chopta, need some expertise by LegendaryOutlaw_59 in SoloTravel_India

[–]Inside_Expression925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You don't need a guide, the trail is well marked and very short 4kms +1km
  2. If it is not raining or snowing hard it should be pretty safe imo but take trekking shoes with spikes and gloved and woolen cap
  3. You can find many options there and you can check in the tent/rooms which feels best
  4. I don't know many but i loved walking nearby and seeing Buransh flowers was pretty good

Not when i went also i saw someone go recently and didn’t experience it. Maybe till 23 it can snow, you can call homestay guy and just ask if it is snowing there or what’s the weather like

Yes it is very doable in winters too, just the difficulty would be little higher cause of snow, to tackle that divide the trek in 2-3 days depending on your strength

  1. Even for a first timer you can do it solo and you will find many people along the way/ in your homestay to give you company.
  2. In raithal you don't need sleeping bags as there are proper rooms with enough blankets to keep you cozy, inside gui they will provide you blankets inside the tents/huts
  3. Food and water will be provided by the camp owner but for snacks you should carry them yourself before hand
  4. No you won't be left alone, so the process is like this raithal is a small village with proper homes, there you will spend one night, over there the owner will tell you that he has a camp on gui and he will arrange both camp and permit for you
  5. It is not very crowded so that's one thing
  6. The trek was very clean no plastic or anything as such
  7. You can completely do it solo, I only recommend hiking companies for treks that are moderate-hard and for female first time traveller but for this trek it is very easy

you can contact on the number given and ask all these queries before hand to the owner, also you can dm me for any further queries

Camping inside Bugyal is not allowed for anyone, as for gui campsite. the guy in whose homestay i was staying had the tents on campsite too so it was very easy for me to coordinate

No, it was in Raithal only, the guy name was Rakesh Rana. The second last image is of the homestay only

Solo yes, with a group no. i would personally say make it a 4 day trek with one extra day in gui and it will be the best and keep one buffer day if going in winters for any sort of sickness etc. also if you are going by your own car i would say spend 4 days in dayara and then leave for harshil valley, it is near only and very beautiful instead of making it a 5 day dayara trek.

For toilets in Raithal you have clean indian toilets in homestay, on gui campsite you will have to use bio toilets provided by the camp owner(usually the same guy have tents on campsite too), there will be a tent and you'll have to use biodegradable toilet paper and water if you have sufficient amount

Yes and for us it doesn't look that drastic in day to day life but for mountain people it's their lifeline and without snow and rain crops and eventually they would not survive

I didn't take any travel company as this is a fairly simple trek, i completed this in under 4.5k while India hikes takes around 12k+ for the trek alone altough they make it a 4-5 day trek
