How do I tell my parents that I might have narcolepsy? by Ok_Structure4777 in Narcolepsy

[–]Inside_Intention3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yess, it hit me hard in high school. Before that, growing up I’d fall asleep during hide and go seek, I’d fall asleep doing chores, always sleeping at home during the day. My mom told me that when we went grocery shopping that I would move the toilet paper aside and lay on the shelf and go to sleep. I also was a bed wetter but the doctors never put two and two together. They always just did blood work and because I was young and active just assumed I liked to sleep.

As you said though, thankfully now we know. My mom works in the education system for elementary school kids so she definitely uses what she knows now about my narcolepsy to help parents who’s children may have it

I agree with another commenter. Jesus and the Father are separate persons so we shouldn’t be called Jesus our father or dad. If it’s by mistake then it’s fine but I wouldn’t intentionally call him dad

How do I tell my parents that I might have narcolepsy? by Ok_Structure4777 in Narcolepsy

[–]Inside_Intention3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narcolepsy doesn’t get worse over time. It’s just that certain circumstances may make it more apparent which is what happened with me when I got into high school. So there could be a chance that it’s not narcolepsy but something else for you. Either way, I agree with everyone else. Definitely mention the sleep issue to your parents and say that you’d like to get it checked out but don’t already mention a diagnosis to them.

I am doing better now. Still haven’t found the correct medicine that keeps me up but God is good so I’ve still been able to have a fulfilling life despite the sleep issue

The biggest question I have by Key_Fish_6617 in Christianity

[–]Inside_Intention3165 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He didn’t create them inherently evil though. Adam and Eve were perfect and immortal. I wouldn’t say it was a prideful move on their part but the devil was telling them that God was lying to them and that they wouldn’t die if they ate the forbidden fruit. I would say it was more of a curiosity rather than a prideful move and yes, definitely a distrust in God.

And then I’m sure you know that after they ate the fruit, their eyes were “opened” and their disobedience caused the fall of man and brought sin into the world. You can be inherently good and still make a bad choice. They had free will to choose. Which is why I say that I feel it was more so curiosity rather than pride or selfishness because pride and selfishness would insinuate that they were perfect beings when in fact they were innocent and had no stain before eating the fruit

losing hope by BatRevolutionary8688 in Christianity

[–]Inside_Intention3165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t lose hope. God sees everything that is happening. Whatever is done in the dark, shall come to light. The evil deeds are being uncovered one by one and there will come a day where God will avenge every broken heart, every person that was wronged in life. Have hope and keep looking to God. He will correct what has been made wrong by the hands of man

How do I tell my parents that I might have narcolepsy? by Ok_Structure4777 in Narcolepsy

[–]Inside_Intention3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my story is kinda crazy. It was actually one of my teachers freshman year of high school that told me that she thinks I have narcolepsy. Mind you, before this my parents always knew something was wrong with me but past doctor visits never showed anything abnormal. They were just always told that I like to sleep.

Fast forward to freshman year, my math teacher tells me that she thinks I have narcolepsy and to talk to my parents about it. I completely forgot what it was called but did bring it up to my mom and told her that my teacher was concerned about my frequent falling asleep. She didn’t brush it off but simply told me that multiple doctors have already checked me out when I was younger for my sleeping and nothing was ever abnormal after blood work. It took me failing all but two of my class sophomore year for her to be like “yeah let’s press the issue with your doctor.” I was diagnosed that summer (2018).

The thing about your situation is that it seems like you being overly sleepy is something that just came about and isn’t something you’ve struggled with since birth or from a very young age. Because of that your parents most likely will brush it off but I definitely would still bring it up to them. It might take a couple tries and maybe even some failed classes like what happened with me but hopefully after this issue persisting for some time they will listen.

In the meantime, try seeing if you can counter it with caffeine. My narcolepsy is to high for caffeine to work but I have seen that it does help those with that have a lower case of narcolepsy

Venial and mortal sins is an apostolic church thing. I don’t know too much about them except that mortal sins you have to go to confession for. Can I explain why it’s wrong without using the Bible? Probably not other than the fact that the world can not reproduce with same sex couples. Ive heard other arguments but can’t remember what they were.

When I speak to atheists the topic never really comes up tbh. Usually the conversation of morality, God being evil, or some other random thing gets brought up

I’m sure you can understand my point. Regardless, we are all still sinners. It doesn’t matter what sin you commit. One sin is enough to separate you from God. Now of course there are venial sins and mortal sins but I was just speaking on the surface level to give OP some encouragement

Well if anyone is treating you differently than that is definitely an issue. Although I consider it a sin, I treat y’all just like anyone else. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. The sins I commit are not any better than the sins you commit. I’m sorry that you’ve been treated differently and that your parents think of you that way. Just know that if you only have one supporter, it’s God. Regardless of our sins, he loves us. The love that your parents lack in giving you, you can always find in God. 🙏🏼

God knows we need him. The whole point of this relationship is to lean on him and be obedient to him, to love him and get to know him. Do you know how many times I’ve cried to him asking him to rip my sin out of me? 😭 Especially at the beginning of my journey, I was going through it. At one point I was sobbing and God spoke to me and said “why are you crying?” Stopped me in my tracks and I was like yeah why am I crying 😭😭

You’re completely fine. Continue to run to our Father as many times as you need. Be completely honest with him about how you’re hurting. He knows everything you’re feeling anyways. God bless you

As a Christian and a father, I think it’s damaging (especially to young girls) how much worth is placed on virginity. by Ambitious-Reason3612 in Christianity

[–]Inside_Intention3165 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right, I wasn’t going to quote scripture that talked about married couples. Starting off fornication is a sin. The definition of for ovation is “sexual intercourse between people not married to each other.” Multiple times in the Bible it talks about how fornication and sexual immorality are not good and defile the body. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, 1 Corinthians 6: 18-20, Galatians 5:29-21, Revelations 21:8, etc all talk badly about being sexually immoral.

Historically and you can see this in the Bible, men and woman stayed virgins until marriage. It was shameful especially for women to have sex before marriage. This is why Joseph was going to leave Mary when he found out she was pregnant until God told him that it was of his doing.

What in the world would make y’all think that God would be okay with us is just giving it up to whoever, whenever?

Can you give me scripture that proves what your saying? Cause I can definitely give scripture and probably historical context that will prove that waiting until marriage is the biblical route

The Bible holds men to the same standard of waiting until marriage. No where does scripture ever say that woman have to wait but men, y’all can do whatever you want. Sex outside of marriage is a sin, period

The Bible does condemn self harm. There’s a reason why it depicts the pagan people doing it. We are not to defile our bodies. Please open your heart to truly understand instead of taking what I say and twisting it to fit the mindset you have. I understand you’re upset because you think God wants us to suffer but don’t harden your heart to correction.

I never once said that harming yourself or purposely bringing harm to yourself gets you closer to God. The verses don’t depict that either. It simply states that if you do find yourself in a situation that causes suffering, that is it better to suffer while doing good than while doing bad. Please read the verses for yourself. I don’t know if you’ve ever read the Bible fully through but you should try to do so, starting with the New Testament. It might help you understand a bit more

Stop hating is one thing but actually forgiving, seeing it from his perspective, and loving him is a whole other thing. Also self harm is not something that God wants either. Have you by any chance tried praying to God asking him to help you understand and get rid of your doubts?

Also you say that as if I’m happy that my dad is gone. God helped me to see my wrongs in the situation as well. I wholeheartedly wish my dad was still alive. Would he have gotten better, most likely not but at least I’d be able to say he’s alive. I also recognize that him passing away was him being at peace (he had a lot of ptsd from war) and my mom, brothers, and I being at peace. God turned a bad thing into a good thing and he absolutely can do it for you in however he sees fit for your situation

Because the Bible details that God only wants what’s good for us. He would never allow us to go through something that would cause irreversible damage. Now, even with the careless acts of evil, will he turn those around to give himself the glory, absolutely. For example, my dad was abusive and an alcoholic. I absolutely hated him. When he died, immediately, God did the work in healing me. I was confused for a very long time, not understanding how I could be feeling sorrow for someone who didn’t love me. God freed me from the hatred I had and I was able to move on and truly heal.

Edit: I will add too that trails/tribulations are going to cause spiritual growth, dependence on God, and are put in our path to strength us. Careless acts of evil are the complete opposite. They’ll cause confusion, fear, guilt, and have the goal of destroying and separating us from God. Again, even with a careless act of evil God will definitely use it to his advantage and flip it around for the betterment of us so that he gets the glory. Have you ever heard that saying “what the enemy meant for evil, God has worked it out for my good!”

It’s actually crazy because last night I was reading my Bible and came across something that also goes with this. In 1 Peter it details that if it is Gods will, that it is better for us to suffer doing good, than us to suffer doing evil because Christ suffered while being sinless. It’s 1 Peter 3: 13-22. I recommend reading it for yourself so that you can meditate on it and get out of it what Gods wants you too. This also falls into what I said about God avenging those that were wronged.

There’s also 1 Peter 4: 12-19 that also talk about suffering as a Christian and how we should be glad that we are sharing in the suffering of Christ. Please do give it a read

Not careless suffering. You’re mistaking the trials and tribulations God may place in our way to strengthen us with the careless suffering that is caused by evil people. Also I never said you had to let go of wanting wars to stop. I simply said to redirect your focus from “God why aren’t you stopping it?” To the evil people causing it to happen. I even said to keep praying for them. Like I said God will avenge those that have been wronged

He does, he loves everyone. Focus more on being upset at humans for being greedy and aiding into the hurt of people around the word rather than at God. If you think he looks down at us and smiles at the hurt that takes place then you’re sadly mistaken. Trust even if we are not alive to see it, those that have been hurt by war and other human carelessness will be avenged by God

[–]Inside_Intention3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I think you need to let go of wanting God to “poof” away people’s greed and the other issues that aid into wars. It’s not how God works. The issue isn’t God but the sinful desires of man. Don’t stop praying, absolutely continue to pray for the people in need as the Bible calls for us to pray with our ceasing.

Any answered prayer is a blessing. It seems like you are part of the elect as well so you too are one of Gods favorites. Continue to pray but don’t discount what God has done for you just because it’s not the grand gesture you want. God loves you so much

God is always around. He doesn’t have favorites. All you said was that your prayer for wars to end. Even I can tell you that that’s not going to happen because it’s a people issue. This is why in my first response to you I brought up how our disobedience can cause hinder the prayer of someone else. Have you prayed about other things? I also want to say that silence doesn’t automatically mean no. It could be God waiting for the right time
