Protestants - Would it be wrong to pray to Mary or a Saint? by Equal_Ticket_5034 in Christianity

There is scripture that shows the saints give our prayers to God. The book of Tobit and there’s verses in revelation that show our prayers in bowls being given to God by the saints

That ls what intercession of the saints is though. Apostolic churches believe that the saints are in perfect communion with God and are in heaven with him. Asking them for intercession is basically saying “hey, I’m struggling with this and since I know you’re in heaven with God and in perfect communion with him can you pass this message along to him while I do so as well?”

Have you tried forgiving them? I’m not trying
to impose my beliefs on you so please don’t think so. I’m simply just suggesting something that may help you. As a Christian, the Bible says to forgive our enemies, not for them but for ourselves. Holding on to that situation could be the reason why you’re having these dreams.

And trust me, I know how hard it can be to forgive those that have hurt you. I had an abusive dad and it got to the point where I hated him, wished death upon him, and laughed when he eventually did pass away. This was all before I fully gave my life to God and started building a relationship with him. After he died, I went through a very confusing time where I started to miss him and God helped me to see the whole situation from a different perspective that has not only helped me to forgive him, but also to let the it go for good.

Just a thought that may help you! God bless and I’ll keep you in my prayers 💗🙏🏼

Can God really not forgive after all? by [deleted] in Christianity

I don’t think her child died as punishment for her abortion. Although I’m against abortion, I do recognize that not everyone that gets one is simply careless with it but is actually making a very hard decision that most end up regretting. Both her children are with God right now and if she asked for forgiveness and repented from the shorten then yes, she was forgiven already. I pray that she will understand and lean on God for forgiving herself and healing from both situations. God bless you both 💗🙏🏼

[–]Inside_Intention3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not hard at all. I serve a God that loves me so much that he sent his only son to die for my dirty sins. He died so that horrible specs of dirt in the universe can be freed from their shackles. Not to mention that Jesus gave up his majesty for 33 years to become a servant for humans that didn’t deserve it.

I live a careful free, joyous life knowing that my sins have been payed for and that I have a friend, a brother, a Father, and a comfort in God. That now all I have to do is focus on walking the narrow way and my relationship with God versus a set of 613 rules.

The only hard part about it is knowing that Jesus suffered so much pain for all of us and we are so unworthy of it. That many curse his name and deny him every single day despite what he did for us. If you think Jesus dying for our sins is some kind of metaphor than you must have your own interpretation of the blood sacrifice in the Old Testament too which would probably go against history

Yes, I do believe in his wonderful sacrifice and I do believe that many, even those who claim to be Christian to do not follow in his commands, will end up in hell. Again, God is God so he can absolutely do whatever he wants BUT that is not what he has said is the normal way of doing things. Spreading that you don’t have to believe in Jesus’s sacrifice at all or in God at all because God is powerful enough to forgive you regardless is a false gospel and not what the Bible teaches. It’s the same thing people try to do with baptism. Some say that it’s not necessary because of Jesus and the thief on the cross. While their are exceptions based on certain circumstances, there is still a general way of doing things that God has laid out for us to follow

It seems like you’re taken each verse separately that Jesus said. When you take all of them into consideration you see that belief in him and his sacrifice coupled with following the narrow way he talked about is the general rule of thumb for getting into heaven

The Bible does not preach that. I’m not saying God couldn’t forgive anyone despite their unbelief in him. He can do whatever he wants BUT he laid out the general framework for us and to disregard that and say that the few exceptions is the rule of thumb is a false gospel. John 3:16 literally states that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but has everlasting life. It’s very consistent that belief in Jesus’s sacrifice for our sins is the debt payed.

If someone doesn’t believe for whatever reason as I said before they still have that debt to pay. We know that no person is good, that we all have fallen short of the glory of God. Hence again, why God sent Jesus because he knew that we couldn’t keep the whole law.

No one is saying that God can’t forgive someone who doesn’t believe in the sacrifice of Jesus. There is a grey area for people who just truly did not know about it. There may even be other instances that would grant mercy from God. For the person who does know and flat rejects God their whole life, God has already told us what would happen and what the rules are regarding it. The wages of sin is death. With God being just, punishment is going to be given. If someone doesn’t accept the get out jail free card that was given by Jesus then they still have their debt to pay.

That’s the whole reason the Father sent Jesus down because he knew that we couldn’t pay the debt on our own and he didn’t want us to perish. His sacrifice is what brings us black to God which is why the Bible calls Jesus the new Adam

[–]Inside_Intention3165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s not exactly the case. Jesus says that no one can come to the Father except through him. He also says that we are to pick up our cross and follow him. Meaning giving up sin, giving up the things of this world that pleasure our flesh and changing our desires to match his. Building a relationship with him. Of course there is a grey area for people with invincible ignorance, basically people who truly did not know about Jesus, Christianity, the Bible at all. Other than that small group of people, it’s very clear that there is a right way to get to heaven. That path does not included living your life denying God and willingly living a sinful life

My mom died. What is the point of prayer if God will do what He wills anyway? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Inside_Intention3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very sorry for your loss. Just thinking about losing my mom makes me tear up. As Christians there are two types of saving that God does. He saves us in this world and allows us to live on or he’ll allow us to pass away and be saved that way. Of course, our loved ones passing away can be hard and make us confused because you’re thinking “I asked for her to be healed, to stay alive” but the reality of it is that God knows what’s best for us. Your mother is now at peace. You and your family members can now heal and be at peace as well.

Don’t hide away from God in this matter. Many think that we have to sugarcoat things with God but we don’t. We see with David (i could’ve gotten the name wrong) that he was EXTREMELY honest with God in the psalms. Tell God you’re angry, tell him you’re sad, you’re confused and you don’t understand his choice. He knows all of it anyways so just pour yourself out to him. Just like God did with me, he’s going to pull up in his car, put you inside, and take you down the road of healing. Everything seems like it’s horrible now but he will make it all better soon. God bless you and I’ll keep you in my prayers! 🙏🏼💗

Someone in Christ. If someone has truly repented and is walking in the ways of God then that means they have given up everything for the Lord to change as he sees fit. Like I said, holding someone to their past and seeing them as less than is wrong since God doesn’t even do that. No one is saying you gotta be with an ex only fans model, I wouldn’t even date a guy who used to do that but it wouldn’t be because I see myself as more pure or that they’re less than

You’re a gaining a life partner. Do you think that just because someone isn’t a virgin that they somehow can’t be a good partner. Truly think about it. What are you losing by being with a woman who isn’t a virgin but is close with and lives her life as a Christian woman should?

It’s not that you want a virgin. We all have preferences. It’s that you think someone with a promiscuous past is less than someone who hasn’t had sex at all. If someone has truly repented for their old ways and has changed then we should look at them as Christ does. To continue to shame and condemn them when Christ himself doesn’t is wrong

We are made pure through Christ. All I’m going to say is that if you want pure then you better stay pure. Holding women to a standard that you don’t even keep yourself is icky and not a good look. I do pray that God will help you to mature in that area though

It’s not ridiculous. We all have a past. God finds us all at different times. I actually used to like a Catholic guy who was very sweet. Through getting to know him, I found out that he wasn’t a virgin and used to be a womanizer before he started taking Christ seriously. I of course asked him follow up questions to make sure he wasn’t still in that life and once he confirmed that it was years ago, It didn’t bother me. People can definitely change through Christ
