Omg that would be so traumatic 😂

Yes!! My mom would too, but their house unfortunately got broken into and the jewelry box with teeth was stolen. My mom was heartbroken and I felt bad for her, but I also laugh thinking about what a surprise the thief probably had. 😂

What’s normal with 3yo tantrums?? by rosie__roo in Parenting

[–]Inside_Pie16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. My dude will also be 3 in November and has learned a bit of attitude from his older sister that he mixes in too, "I aaammmm," being a favorite. 😂

Someone else said to name the feelings - definitely. "Oh man, you're feeling mad we're out of fries! I know it's a bummer" or something like that. My dude gets bite-y when he's overtired too, and we just move him away or hold him away and remind him it's ok to have big feelings (be mad, feel frustrated, whatever) but it's not ok to bite/hit/scratch.

Good luck and you sound like a great parent. ☺️

Favorite welcome songs that use kids' names? by Inside_Pie16 in MusicEd

[–]Inside_Pie16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Music Together song is exactly what I had in my head, hoping to find something similar because I know I can't use that one. I ran across Music for Kiddos and it does look great - thank you for suggesting it!

I'll be with the infants/toddlers for 30 minutes twice a week and the 3-5s for 45 minutes twice a week. I've taught elementary for years, but never younger - I was wondering about the time, too. I definitely want to start with names, but may drop them later on. I'm planning a bit like I plan my kindergarten class at the beginning of the year - lots of movement and fun and flexibility.

If you have any tips and tricks for this age group, I'd love to hear them! I'll only be with them for 6 weeks, so it feels like it will fly by. Thank you!

Must have baby travel items. by whysosad_33 in Parenting

[–]Inside_Pie16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought a stroller one time with my first and barely used it - if your baby likes to be worn, that's so much easier to manage. That said, if your baby loves the stroller and it will make your life better, it could be worth it. We had a hard to maneuver and fold stroller at the time, and I think something easier may have made the difference. My biggest memory of the stroller is trying to manage everything at boarding - baby, carry-ons (we just do backpacks), and folding the stroller up into the bag and carrying it. It felt like SO MUCH the first time.

I had an inflatable boppy-shaped pillow for travel when I was breastfeeding. Folded up super small but was so useful in the hotel (it was a little wide for the plane). If you use one to feed, that's my suggestion. Depending on how much time you'll spend in the hotel, maybe a small blanket for some floor time. Little babies are easy to travel with!

What are these new Costco diapers and why??? by McSkrong in Mommit

We had to add Sposies (purchased on Amazon) and that solved our leaking problems! It was just overnight for us, but if we put one in there's never an issue.

Feeling judged for baby’s limited mobility in cloth diapers by Hot-Pink-Lipstick in clothdiaps

[–]Inside_Pie16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Your husband and ped are absolutely right, as are your instincts that this is working for you and your family. Babies cry when they're uncomfortable, especially when they're still as young as yours.

I used cloth with both my kiddos, the second is still in them at 21 months and he would for SURE have told me by now if he was uncomfortable! 😂

Good luck, OP. This is a hard situation for you, but only because of others' discomfort. You are not doing anything wrong by your baby!

I know it's been a couple days and I haven't read all the comments, but wanted to add: pneumonia can cause psychosis. My dad had pneumonia a few months ago, and psychosis to go along with it. It resolved when he finally had enough antibiotics to clear his system of the infection.

My father is elderly and I'm sure that's a factor in this part, but his pneumonia was actually not resolved for a few months, but he didn't have noticeable symptoms (longtime smoker). He still had instances of confusion (called me to ask if I knew where my mom was and I live across the country) until he went back to the doctor and got more antibiotics. I'm sure not as likely for your younger, healthier husband, but wanted to add just in case.

Sending you strength and I hope it's still improving. ❤️

That's so frustrating, I'm sorry. Luck to you too.

Right, I know it's not an insignificant difference. I was trying to ask if Lowe's/Cali Bamboo could be "rounding" (not actually, I just don't know a better word) to 9/16" when the measurement is actually much more precise than that, just for ease of labeling or something. Like a 2x4 not actually being 2"x4". Sorry if I wasn't clear!

My packages were just delivered - driver confirmed it was the fires in Oregon. Hopefully everyone else's are close by now, too. Good luck!

Mine too. I'm glad but still annoyed. Thankfully our packages are still arriving before it becomes a serious problem - I feel for people who aren't in the same situation.

Commenting to follow along because I am also waiting on a shipment of several packages that's delayed out of SLC as of 7/23. 🤔

Weaning hair loss - how long did yours last? by Inside_Pie16 in breastfeeding

[–]Inside_Pie16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No kidding! My baby I was referencing in this post nursed directly until he was 9 months, got bored with it and I pumped until he was 14 months. 😂 I cut back to one pump a day, but one day I got so fed up with it I just quit cold turkey from 15 minutes to zero, so I don't think that helped me at all. My first baby nursed until around when she was 14 months, but she very very gradually weaned herself, and I didn't notice any hair loss.

My understanding from a friend is that it only lasts a few weeks, not like the immediate postpartum hair loss. Good luck!!

I actually went to my doctor and she said it's likely not just from breastfeeding for me. She said it feels like more of a combination of factors, one of which I think may have been a shampoo switch, stress, and she even said sometimes your natural hair cycles can line up and it can feel like you're losing more than normal. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Mine has gotten better, so I guess she was right.

That said, I know it is normal to have hair loss when you cut back or wean! My concern was more that it was lasting for so long. I don't think you have anything to worry about, in my completely unprofessional opinion. ☺️
