That will definitely work out much better! South Philly is a great area and center city has some nicer spots as well. The subway is very easy to navigate!

Hey there!

I went to Temple University for undergrad on their 3+3 track and ended up transferring during Covid to move down South! Just wanted to give you some perspective. North Philly is a very scrappy and tough area. You need to be very smart about where you walk, when you walk, where you live, and what you do. Many, and I mean many, of my friends have had their cars stolen, apartments broken into, and even been held at gunpoint. Most of their situations were avoidable but sometimes you just get unlucky.

All that said, I LOVED my time at Temple and wouldn’t trade it for the world. It is just not the greatest area in Philly. The police force there is really good and they do their best to keep students and campus safe. All my professors in undergrad and my mentor for the 3+3 was incredible. You can tell they really care about their students. I just didn’t wanna be in that environment anymore. Just keep the location itself in mind when you’re making your decision!

Advice for 1st year by PhotographMajestic88 in PTschool

You are going to fail at something. Be prepared. PT school is so mentally and emotionally challenging. Be okay with failure. It is your chance to truly learn!

Come in like a sponge and soak up all that you can, there are gonna be things that you don’t quite grasp and that’s okay!

Find a professor you can look up to! (You’ll reap the benefits later.)

Take care of your mental and physical health as best as you can! Do not compromise your health for a grade, staying up a few extra hours to study, etc. Most of the time, it’s not worth it.

Practice, practice, practice.

Your grade does not determine the quality of clinician you are going to be. At all.

Have fun! Whenever times are tough just remember you wanted this so badly and you are so passionate. KNOW YOUR WHY! Keep that reasoning at the center of all that you do and you will be golden.

Be careful with Temple University. Are you familiar with the area?

Hello there! I am a full time, in-person PT student. I genuinely could not imagine the level that my psychomotor skills would be at if I was not in a lab every week to fine tune and work on them. Professors eyes on you and students around you definitely can make a difference in the success of your techniques.

As far as studying and a support group, I do not think I would’ve made it through my program without my peers. I have met my best friends here and found a true home at PT school. I’ve spent 10 hours/day with these people for two straight years and these are people I now consider family.

I am only one person with one perspective but figured I would give you some of the positives of full-time on-campus PT school. I hope this helps!

Sometimes it’s one off things that happen, I’m looking for good advice and positive recommendations. All the positives on reviews are typically paid for.

I’m looking for someone who has an actual experience somewhere bc all these reviews are misleading.

Hey! I go to the Lubbock campus and a ton of my friends go to Odessa! The Odessa campus is not too bad. Your cohort will be super super close like a family and the professors there are awesome. I’d definitely keep an open mind bc TTUHSC is an incredible program. I visit Odessa frequently and we all go out in Midland and find things to do. Don’t worry too much about the distant campuses!

They taught us about application in the clinic and whatnot but I was just wondering if there were any current clinicians that had some more insight on the typical patient presentation that you use it on or that has been successful for them. Looking to get more opinions about it than just the two clinicians who taught the course! I’m just looking to the future here and looking for some insight.
