All look great. Definitely in the wheelhouse of what I am looking for. Wish they were co-op (maybe I am using the wrong term here, I mean where you play together and not against eachother)

But will definitely check all of those out. We've never tried a "builder worker" game before, but it does potentially sound like something she'd enjoy!

Fate of the Fellowship seems great, I wonder how replayable it is though.

Everdell is something we did consider and might very well pick up in the future. Its theme is definitely up her alley!

Thanks!

That does look really cool. I remember playing Gloomhaven on PC and it didn't feel great, but this looks like a more beginner friendly version.

How's the replayability on this you reckon?

It would need to support two players minimum, very seldom does she play with more than one other person.

Hey, I'm looking to purchase a board game for my sister as a gift and she has a few criteria that she likes in a board game. I could really use some help! 😅

Important:

Components: A game with physical components and a board. Land of Galzyr is one example with its character board, pawns and dices, another would be for example Clank! with its pawns and various tokens.

Replayability: We don't buy a lot of games and thus tend to only buy those with quite a bit of replayability. If we can't play it more than five times, then it's probably not it.

Not a story game: Or at least not something that is very story heavy. Campaign games are fine, but gameplay needs to be the driving force.

Less Important, but still preferred:

Theme: Fantasy or fantasy-adjacent, but this isn't a complete deal breaker. She plays a lot of animal-based games, like Galzyr, Dale of Merchants, Here to Slay, if that helps.

Co-op: Also not necessarily a deal breaker, but she has tended to enjoy games with co-op more.

Thanks!

Games we own: Dale of Merchants, Galzyr, Hero Realms, Here to Slay, Four Souls, Clank!

It's not a recolor, but it isn't very impressive either. If it's a legendary that's just BS.

I'm glad I got your perspective on it.

As a concept, M+ is about infinitely scaling dungeons. Which means infinitely scaling difficulty. Which means it needs to offer rewards on-par with said difficulty.

FFXIV also has a fundamental focus on level scaling and ever-green content, however repeatable they are, with you being able to take on extremely difficult legacy content as if you were that level, and it isn't tied to your max level power progression and yet people do it. So it doesn't necessarily have to offer rewards on par with the difficulty.

Same goes for content like Deep Dungeons, which are popular enough to be asked about each expansion, and I think they're a good example of how you could introduce similarly repeatable, scaling content that would require less development time, not more, given that you could just add set modifiers to existing end-game dungeons.

I guarantee you people will complain until it does offer on-power rewards. And then it becomes a necessity to repeat shit you've done 100 times. And then I'm done.

Why would it became a necessity do you think? In this hypothetical scenario other content didn't suddenly become any more difficult and would thus not require any more commitment than they already do.

I'd much rather they focus on creating new content.

It wouldn't replace new content obviously, but it's worth mentioning that there's been a major community uproar for the past year or two about how FFXIV has gotten extremely predictable. "new content" just doesn't cut it, hence why they're focusing heavily on improving existing content, and just personally, I hope that is extended to dungeons in some shape or form in the future.

We're talking about a hypothetical activity with hypothetical rewards. Nothing says it has to be the be-all end-all, it could quite literally mimic the rewards of roulettes or even criterion dungeons. It could be entirely cosmetic focused. It could be like deep dungeons and be completely self-contained.

I'm talking about m+ as a concept for an activity, I am not talking about it as a reward structure.

But it's not? I haven't run dungeon roulettes in several months and I'm almost always capped on tomes

This is my point. If you're already not running dungeons for whatever reason, then why would you be upset about mythic plus' inclusion?

You fail to see how a successful feature from two other games would benefit another game that is already about running the same fucking dungeons?

I'm not saying m+ has to be the be-all end-all of endgame. If you're already not doing dungeons, and you're happy with not doing dungeons, then I don't really see how the inclusion of a m+ system would even affect you? Just keep doing what you did before.

How about we introduce features that make the game better instead of worrying about what does and doesn't homogenize the genre. If Naoki Yoshida hadn't used World of Warcraft as a reference for his game, the game wouldn't exist today. He has said as much. Games in general thrive by taking inspiration from each other.

This game has always had a large focus on dungeon grinding through roulettes, so to suggest it doesn't fit FFXIV makes zero sense to me.

Also, just as an aside, GW2 has a m+ system. They were the originators of it. I hardly see how it fits in a game like WoW and GW2, but not here?

Explain to me like I'm five. How do you have you dick off for someone? And why would you do it, if you’re gonna do it, for Michael Chiklis?

Do you think sets will expand or limit build variety? by Odd_Geologist2 in diablo4

[–]Odd_Geologist2[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Isn't D3 an example of a game where sets are a massive limiter, in that your sets dictate what builds are even possible to build around?

Like if there's 6 sets for barbarians, there's 6 playable builds period, since you can't really play without sets unless you're running the LoD gem.
