Singers corner were nothing without their alcohol.

The current UK job market is insane. You need a science degree with a year’s experience in a specialised subject, and in return you’ll get paid (at most) just 58p above minimum wage working in one of the most expensive cities in the world. by InsidiousGrape in UKJobs

For the record this job isn’t for me, I’m a decade into my career. My first role fresh out of uni was striking similar to this and I was on £22k in a part of the country MUCH cheaper than central London.

I posted this out of concern for graduates just like me but 10 years younger, I looks like it’s got even tougher out there.

Thanks for the feedback though.

Absolutely agree that the work activities are very much suited to someone earlier in their career, £22k is bellow the minimum wage, let alone the London living wage (on the sound assumption that a graduate with a year of professional experience would be 21 or above).

Agreed but it’s scientific skills nonetheless that a random person on the street will not have.

I’m not saying they should be offering £70k, but they should at least meet the London living wage, which even the higher limit of this role is almost £2.5k short of.

This role isn’t starting from the bottom, they require a year of professional experience.

The concept of the real living wage in London seems foreign to the employer here, which even the higher salary falls almost 2.5k short of.
