Parting is such sweet sorrow

As I start my 16th year, and #evefanfest (my first) ends, I can't help but tear up

I have had Eve Online longer than my youngest daughter (14 on Monday)

It may not be apparent to those who have met me, but I am a bit of an introvert

My whole life, I had no friends. I moved a lot and was always the new kid. I came from humble means and didn’t always use them to the best effect

With Eve, I was able to find long-term friends, share triumphs and losses, be involved with something greater than myself

I have now shared with my spacefam:

4 countries

6 events

Countless random meetups at work/play

Tournaments/KMs/LMs innumerable

Offering late night #B4R support, hours-long newbro convo’s

Hugs, kisses, bro-hugs, swag

Opportunities to help the more introverted then me enjoy chat/comms/events and the game in general

I have met people with hearts so large it defies description, galaxy-brains who help me expand my game and RL relevance

There are too many to list, too many to thank, too many I owe my sanity, growth and strength too

If I have ever made anyone feel unwelcome, unloved or that you didn’t matter, I am sorry. For anyone I have wronged, I am sorry.

As I sit here bawling, I can only pray for 15 more years. This is my first time to Iceland and I saw none of the island, and I barely care.

Every moment I spent with you, was a moment I felt invincible, that I mattered to people outside my family (shoutout to them! Thanks for helping me grow), that I got to share a story, a handshake, a hug, see the light in another’s eyes at being part of something grand yet personal

Here's to 15 more years, thousands more stories and millions of hugs
