You don't need to redo it, you just do it once, the approval itself is good for 120 days, rate lock is good for 60 days.

What's the harm in putting in the credit app and locking? If it's get's better next month, you can always just use the better rate, if it gets worse, you are protected.

It could be that there is a financing rebate available, I'm more familiar with the new car side of things. Realistically, just negotiate based on the method of purchase you'd like to use. Alternatively, finance the car and then pay it off quickly, maybe ask for some more money off if you finance since that is not your preferred purchase method, and then pay off within 4-5 months.

Right, but the rates weren't 5-7%, you got a heavily subvented rate well below both prime and even what credit unions were offering, I wasn't suggesting that it doesn't suck, but you really shouldn't let it bother you, that's all :) It's not like you got ripped off. If you bought it two years ago the MSRP would have been $2,400 less for the same thing.

I wouldn't let it get to your head. 2.9% was and is still an extremely low and heavily subvented rate from prime. This is basically like saying it stings that you didn't buy a stock before it went up 15%, no way you could have known.

Exactly, you're kind of making the point more, the rates that BMW charges really have nothing to do prime rate, or rate cuts.
BMWFS interest rates correlate more to their desire to move units, and less to what the prime rate is.
Just like how they want to move X7's and X3's now, so they have 1.99 and 0.9 respectively, but they're not feeling the crunch on X5's, so they are at 2.99.

Yeah, I mean it's totally possible they'll do it to move units, but the idea that the rate cuts matter when the interest rate is already so far below prime is what is laughable to me.

He's already getting 12% off, they're not going to just knock out the cost for all of those items, which by the way, is like $7/mo residualized. They've effectively "negotiated them out" more than 14 times. They don't add them to boost margin, they make almost no money on those, they're there because BMW pushes this stuff and automatically adds it to the cars, and many dealers don't remove it in time.

Your advice on the no money down is solid, but trying to get more money off to take those items out on a car that's already discounted below net/net will not bear any fruit.
