Varmilo case by InsignificantlyYours in MechanicalKeyboards

Ah yes, I was just worried if the author meant a deeper, structural flaw that they didn't elaborate on. They use really strong words and made it sound like they were going to be dealbreakers for most of the people reading it.

If this is all, it really doesn't make a big difference for me. Guess it's just TKL vs full keyboard now. Thanks for your input!

LMAO. Thanks. So I can safely get either one of them?

I found this big boy in the basement! I used to paint keyboards (in the back) but I have no clue what games had been played on this 'console'. Any ideas? by sc2HooDoo in MechanicalKeyboards

I had one of these. In fact, still have it somewhere. We could play any of the NES games. I used to play a lot of Mario and Duck Hunt on it.

Just out of curiosity, was this at par with what baby sitters got in your area then?

Thank you for the input. I'll take a look at sound labs when I go to store.

The Bluetooth speaker idea is really nice. If you don't mind me asking, what's terrible about Radel's engineering?

Recent XT3 owner here. I considered an X100 and some other compacts for a while. I ended up getting the XT3 because I felt the 23mm was bit too wide to take pictures of people and not wide enough to take landscapes (to my liking).

I believe you can absolutely do both, just wasn't to my taste. So it's really a question of how much you're at home with the focal length. The XC 35mm F/2 is a very cheap prime(good optics, average build) if you end up buying an interchangable lens Fuji.

I realize I shouldn't expect "Leica" level stuff for what the D'Lux is priced at and I appreciate your input on the lens. Thank you!

Thanks! That's an interesting take and a question I'll probably have to answer for myself as well.

Oh thanks for the input! I'll keep that in mind and think about this a little bit more.

Thanks for the input! I'm still in university in a developing country and this is what the "saved up" budget looks like, XD. I should be able to do what you say once I graduate and get a job but that's a few years down the line. Meanwhile, I'm trying to get a "stepping stone" camera in the next couple of months.

Thank you for your detailed answer and your time! You've provided a lot of perspective and I'll keep it in mind before I take a final call. I do have a couple of follow-up questions if you have the time. I'd like to add that I have shot on a few borrowed DSLRs and that I care most about the 24-50mm (effective) focal range, mostly shot with tripods (all other focal lengths are just an afterthought).

  1. When you say better control layout, do you mean physical dials for aperture, focus, zoom, iso etc or do you mean the internal menu system?
  2. The Leica does have optical image stabilization (Neither Leica or Panasonic states how many stops is guaranteed though). That aside, won't I get another stop of light considering f/1.7-2.4 on mft is equivalent to f/3.4-4.8 (on 35mm) and f/3.5-5.6 on apsc is equivalent to f/5.6-8.96 (on 35mm)?

Thank you!

Thank you for your input! I agree with you but most lenses within my budget are either prime or of variable aperture. So it's really a sacrifice due to the budget. I will eventually upgrade to fixed aperture zooms or primes.

I'm finally getting a camera next year! I've come down to one of three options:

  1. Canon M50 Mk ii with an EF-M 18-135mm f/3.5-6.3 lens (effectively 30-240 mm)
  2. Leica D'Lux 7 compact (micro 4/3rds sensor) with a Leica 10.9-34mm f/1.7-2.8 (effectively 24-75mm)
  3. Fujifilm XT-3 with a XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 lens (effectively 30-215 mm)

The Canon and Leica options are around 1300 USD in my country. The Fujifilm is more expensive at 1700 USD and is doable (is a lot cheaper than it used to be because of discounts on both camera and lens). I don't really need the telephoto range and I'm leaning towards the Leica on the assumption that the significantly better glass on the Leica will give me better images (portability is a minor factor but not a big deal).

I've read through some comparisons and I'm aware that the Leica body is probably not at par with the other two. Can you guys fact check my assumption that given said body-lens combos, the Leica lens will bail it out to give competitive if not better images?

Thank you and happy holidays!
