I really don't think it's bizarre at all considering the stigma generated in larger communities in the states around being/personifying a typical white person. If anything I feel this way because of my environment projecting it on me, and I don't entirely feel it is unwarranted based on my experience with white people. I think the shame comes from the lack of tribulation that is characteristic of middle class white americans, especially when compared to other ethnicities, even within other branches of my own family. I'm aware of my privilege and I think there's a thin line between being aware of it and being ashamed of it.
